At just 26 years old, Talisa Sutton has already nailed down a pretty impressive resume….
What do you get when you mix bohemian dreamy with fairy tale extravagance?
“A dream like fairy tale filled with vintage elements, flowers and princess dresses,” says Genevieve Chapman. “I stumbled across Vicky’s work online and I decided to get in touch with her to see if she wanted to collaborate on a shoot while I was back visiting my hometown, Canberra,” Genevieve explains.
Genevieve, who currently resides in London, England and is the owner and director of Miss Gen Photography. She and Vicky Kidd-Gallichan of Canberra based fashion label Rockstars and Royalty created a whimsical bridal shoot with breathtaking results.
“I loved Genevieve’s style so we decided to collaborate to produce some images that reflected both of our brands. We created a mood board and got other Canberra businesses involved (Peony ‘n’ Pearl and Swish Vintage) to bring our ideas to life,” says Vicky.
“The shoot took place at the redwood forest, near the airport in Canberra. We wanted somewhere that looked like a hidden forest and that didn’t look too Australian. We wanted something a bit mysterious too. The tall trees and thick undergrowth suited what we were planning perfectly.”
“We wanted to make it like a scene from a dream, with the decadent tea party, beautiful mismatched vintage furniture and oversized, flower filled crowns,” explains Vicky.
Vicky created the two pink rose gowns and the flower girl dress especially for the shoot, along with the huge ivory veil. “The gold crowns were actually candle holders that I painted and attached to headbands, ready for Fionna from Peony ‘n’ Pearl to fill with her gorgeous flowers.”
When asked what the day of shooting together was like, both Genevieve and Vicky reply, “relaxed!”
“My style is relaxed and I always enjoy working with new people to create beautiful images” explains Genevieve. “We had every detail planned and everyone involved were experienced professionals and knew what they were doing once they got to the set. I don’t like to leave things to chance,” says Vicky.
If like us, you cannot get enough of the beautiful images produced by Vicky, Genevieve and the creative team, don’t worry, Gen is back in Canberra and the pair is already planning another massive photoshoot on location at Pialligo Estate Winery.
“There are so many beautiful places for photos within the venue and grounds that the shoot has become massive!”
“We are going for a less rustic look this time, with plenty of sparkle. We’ve got even more local creative and models involved than last time as well. I can’t wait to see it all come together,” says Vicky.
“I am super excited to be collaborating with Vicky and Fionna again in Canberra, I am also looking forward to another wedding season in Europe and then returning to Australia next summer to shoot more weddings and couples sessions back home,” says Genevieve.
We look forward to seeing what magic these two create on their next collaboration. You can view the full set of images from the shoot at Rock My Wedding.
