marie claire gives Canberra a trend forecast for AW19

Posted on

When we heard that fashion bible marie claire was paying Canberra Centre a visit, we were understandably beside ourselves.

This Friday evening, the marie claire Australia team will be presenting not one but two workshops as part of their marie claire Fashion and Beauty Night at Canberra Centre, but that’s just the beginning.

Guests will also have the opportunity to sample a free champagne bar, beauty bars and a donut wall, as well as take advantage of more than 40 retail offers from participating businesses.

There will be live entertainment and more opportunities to grab a picturesque snap for the ‘gram than you can poke a polished nail at. Did we mention that the first 100 guests to arrive will all receive gift bags?

While the two workshops–In Conversation with the marie claire Fashion Editors and Day to Night with marie claire–only have a handful of tickets left, we caught up with Fashion Director of marie claire, Jana Pokorny to get the scoop on Autumn/Winter trends.

Trend #1: Minimalism and simplicity

“Fashion for the thinking woman breezed down the international runways in all its paired-back glory,” says Jana. “Nude neutrals and ivory in austere silhouettes were perfectly matched with utilitarian details. This trend is all about integrating minimalism and simplicity into your wardrobe.”

Trend #2: The bohemian

“Lush embroidery was seen at Oscar de la Renta and daring red crochet at Altuzarra, the catwalks shared a common theme: colour and craftsmanship befitting a modern gypsy.”

“Whether or not your style is bohemian, this trend is about injecting pops of colour into your everyday wardrobe.”

Trend #3: Tailoring

“Gender-fluid styles stood out on the runways this season for their comfort and cool-factor,” explains Jana. “Case in point: sublime soft suiting at Victoria Beckham and Calvin Klein’s longline blazers. Tailored pieces are a must own wardrobe classic.”

Trend #4: The Romantic

“This is the season that saw designers meld the sweet with the sensual – think billowy sleeves set-off by sheer panels and lashings of lace, and high necklines tempered by peekaboo cut-outs.”

“Zimmermann, Fendi and Valentino led the ultra-feminine charge. marie claire will show you how to wear this trend of femininity and romance for all occasions.”
