Rebel Muse is spreading her wings

One of our favourite design curators is spreading her wings and flying to Belconnen.
Rebel Muse will operate a pop-up for the next three months, with owner Alicia Xyrakis accepting an offer by Westfield to test the waters for her up-market collection of clothes and shoes.
The new Rebel Muse Belconnen will open from Wednesday in the former Westfield My Size store on level two, opposite Portmans.
Alicia says the move makes sense for her as it will open up a new market for her Australian and imported labels over the Christmas trade period. If things go well, she will extend the pop-up to six months and then there is an option to move in for good if the Belconnen market supported the concept.
Although she was looking forward to slowing down a little after closing her dedicated shoe store Peachy Keen on Lonsdale Street earlier this year, Alicia said the Westfield offer had come out of the blue, and she was “clearly a glutton for punishment” as she ferried her stock between stores in preparation for the opening.
Belconnen shoppers can look forward to a slightly different collection – all of the sale stock, plus a lot of denim and active wear. There will be key pieces for summer, for racing wear and party wear.
“I think the customers will be a little younger and want a slightly lower price-point and a greater selection of day wear,” says Alicia.
There will also be shoes – lots of shoes – from Superga to Senso and Sol Sana.
Meanwhile, label freaks can fight over the P.E Nation, Steele, Alice McCall, Macgraw, and C&M.
And, yes, Alicia admits there might be merit in visiting the Belconnen store where there is more than half a chance you can score a carpark compared with her Lonsdale Street flagship.
