Part 1: Cafes, Culture, Shopping They are Sydney-based celebrity sisters forging a lifestyle and fashion…
Fancy a night out surrounded by enough vintage wares, antiques, art, furniture, curiosities and bric-a-brac to make your head spin?
Want to channel your inner op-shopper, dress up for the event and imbibe a cocktail or two while you shop?
Dirty Janes knows exactly what you need.
On Friday 4 December, Dirty Janes will be running its Christmas Twilight Shopping Event.
It is partly a fun way to make the demands of pre-Christmas shopping feel a little less onerous and a little more fun.
But it is also a thank you from Dirty Janes’ founder Jane Crowley (pictured above) and her 90 stallholders to all the people in Canberra who have supported the vintage emporium since it opened earlier this year amid the COVID outbreak.
“It has been such a difficult year for so many but to see the welcome we have received from Canberra residents has just blown us away. The way the city embraced a new business and supported us this year has honestly been heart-warming—as cliched as that sounds.”
“We figured we would open our doors on a Friday night and make it very special. We will be performing random acts of kindness, there will be lucky door prizes, best-dressed prizes and The Canberra Distillery will be on hand to provide some hydration as well as food stalls offering food for purchase.”
“Billy T’s Larder will be throwing on a barbecue and we feel there will be a really fun vibe and energy to the place.”
But in line with COVID regulations, numbers are limited, and would-be shoppers need to register for free entry.
Jane noted that for many Canberrans, Christmas this year may look a little different, and the chance to shop local and to support small regional makers, artists and craftspeople may appeal. So to, the chance to purchase a gift that has been reclaimed, recycled, or repurposed.
“Not every Christmas gift needs to be a brand new thing, and our range of vintage and antique goods may make perfect and truly unique gifts for many.”
While Friday 4 December is the big event, Jane noted that Dirty Janes will also operate late night shopping on Friday 11 and 18 December.
“And if people want to dress up when they come in on those nights, we promise to make a fuss of them,” she said.
