After months of waiting, savvy shoppers can thrill at the news that Vinnies Braddon is finally open on Lonsdale Street – and it’s set to be a thrifter’s paradise.
Tapping into the local demand for vintage fashion – joining Goodbyes, the Australian Red Cross store, The Green Shed Shop, and The Green Shed Underground – the addition of the store to Braddon’s bustling op-shopping scene sees the area transformed into the go-to place to bag a second-hand bargain.
And while it might be the 28th addition to the Vinnies Canberra/Goulburn region, this is the first inner-city location for the iconic op-shop – but it offers more than just a place for preloved objects to find a home.
According to the CEO of the Vinnies Canberra/Goulburn region, Lucy Hohnen, Vinnies Braddon will provide a place for connection, volunteering and giving back, raising desperately needed funds for those in need in the community.
“We really wanted our first inner-city space to be in the middle of all the action where our younger shoppers already live, play, study, and work. And to have found a prime location in the beating heart of Braddon on Lonsdale Street, with great foot traffic was a long-held dream of ours,” says Lucy.
“It is really a flagship space, that has been designed in-house from inception. The fit-out is an explosion of fun and joy themed around a sustainable future and circular economy. The entire store is decorated with reclaimed roof sheeting along with bespoke fixtures and fittings to match the unique, edgy culture of the local Braddon neighbourhood.”
The large store will offer the savvy shopper everything – from racks bursting with clothes to shelves full of home décor, antiques, and collectibles. And to match the vibe of the cool inner north suburb, every aspect of the store has also been specially curated for a colourful and fun shopping experience.
“One of the key creative minds behind the vibrant new shop is Isla Smith, our extraordinarily talented Retail Development Manager. Isla had a very clear vision for the space from the very beginning, which was focused on capturing the dynamic personality of Braddon and the result is unlike any of our current shops,” says Lindsay Rae, Director Commercial Operations at Vinnies Canberra/Goulburn.
“To add further colour to the street and shop, we collaborated with local mural artists, from Graffix paint Collective to transform two blank walls on Lonsdale Street into vibrant artwork to mark the location of the highly anticipated Vinnies Braddon.”
Open seven days a week with late-night trading on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, set some time aside to give this store the attention it deserves. You never know what treasures you’ll find.
