Canberra’s newest coffee spot: Meet Piccolo by Amici

Lala Hospitality Group is bringing Italian flavours to Canberra’s morning rush with Piccolo by Amici.
Located beside Amici Wine Bar & Deli, Piccolo by Amici will serve takeaway St. Ali coffee from $4.50, with no extra charge for alternative milks or decaf, alongside Italian breakfast treats and freshly prepared Pinsa Pockets. Open Monday to Friday, 7 am to 2 pm, the custom-built bar is also designed to travel – bringing spritzes, cocktails and Italian-inspired food to weddings, parties and private events in 2027.

Light rail construction around the Melbourne Building has significantly affected foot traffic to Amici, prompting the team to find new ways to activate the space. At the same time, customers were asking whether Amici could bring its food and drinks to their own events.
“We’d been thinking about how to bring more life back to the corner, and at the same time, people were asking us to bring Amici to their events. This felt like a great way to do both,” says Robyn Jones, co-owner and Events & Marketing Director of Lala Hospitality Group.
“During the week it’s all about coffee and Italian breakfast, but when we eventually take her on the road, we can serve everything from spritzes and cocktails to canapés, cheese and charcuterie boards at weddings, parties and celebrations.”

The menu features Italian sweet treats, including Amici’s much-loved ricotta cannoli, alongside signature Pinsa Pockets made with Italian dough fermented for 72 hours. Options include the Sunrise, with soft scrambled eggs, crispy bacon and mozzarella, and the Caprese, with fior di latte, tomato, basil pesto, spinach and balsamic. There’ll be rotating specials, with something different to try each day.
Piccolo will also introduce The Piccolo Pass, a loyalty program rewarding customers for their spending.

Piccolo by Amici opens is open Monday to Friday, 7 am–2 pm. The mobile bar will be available for hire for weddings, parties and private events in 2027.
