Celebrate the 25th anniversary of ‘Titanic’ by recreating this iconic scene in Canberra (yes, really)

Posted on

It’s hard to believe (especially for ’90s babies in denial about their age) but it’s been a quarter of a century since Jack and Rose stole our hearts.

Titanic, arguably one of the most epic films of our generation (and if you want to argue about it you can fight me in the street), turns 25 this year and to celebrate, we thought we’d explore where in Canberra you can recreate its most iconic scene.

No, we’re not talking about the handprint on the steamed-up window inside the car. We’re talking about Jack’s iconic line: “Do you trust me?” and the heart-soaring wonder that ensues.

Goddamit, who is cutting onions in this office.

Naturally, the 25th anniversary is your chance to have some fun with this iconic scene—like recreating it on your next visit to one of these equally iconic Canberra locations. Just remember to be safe (duh).

The upper deck of the MV Southern Cross

Quite possibly the best match for re-creating this scene, the MV Southern Cross hosts plenty of events—from lunch and dinner cruises to sightseeing tours and special events.

Make sure to keep your balance and wear your life jacket if you’re attempting this one.

Sunset re-creation, anyone?

Okay, so it’s not on the water, but The Jetty’s waterside location could hold the key to the perfect snap, if you get the angle right.

Mount Ainslie

The appeal of Mount Ainslie lies in the multiple types of balconies to pose next to—all perfect for anyone with a fear of heights (because there are no sudden drop-offs).

If that view isn’t perfect for a Jack and Rose moment, we don’t know what is.

Choosing to host your wedding or event at The Marion just so you can have a Titanic moment? We wouldn’t judge you.
