After a spectacular 2023 season that saw luminaries like Wynton Marsalis and the LGT Young Soloists take to the stage, the Snow Concert Hall is gearing up for a packed 2024.
First up? Renowned French percussionist Adelaide Ferriere.
Celebrated for her astonishing talent and captivating stage presence, Adelaide has won more than fifteen international prizes (from France, Austria, the Netherlands, and the United States) and performed in some of the world’s greatest Halls including Philharmonie de Paris, the Opéra National de Paris, the Salzburg Mozarteum, London’s National Portrait Gallery and the Luxemburg Philharmonie – to name a few.
Now, Adelaide is coming to Canberra to perform a thrilling classical percussion performance this Friday 23 February.
It’s the perfect season premiere for Canberra’s newest performance venue, with a 2024 program that promises to surprise, delight and push the boundaries of classical music.

For those who have never experienced the unique atmosphere of a percussion performance, this will be an indulgent introduction, with Adelaide’s boundary-pushing talent and fresh perspective putting a modern spin on an ancient artform.
“I was attracted by the richness of percussion instruments,” explains Adelaide.
“You can move from one instrument to the next and play with the diversity of timbres and soundscapes. And I fell for the marimba. I wanted to develop this instrument, which is really an expressive keyboard, percussion’s answer to the piano. And I love the marimba’s repertoire, which has plenty to be built on.”

With a program featuring masterpieces from the likes of Debussy, Gershwin and Bach, this will truly be a show for music lovers of all ages and tastes.
