If you’re sticking around Canberra this summer, your foodie to-eat list has a whole lot of new options.
From Brazilian street food to bánh mì from a cult fave, here are the fresh faces on the Canberra food scene.
House of Desserts brings customisable desserts to Verity Lane
We have some sweet, sweet news – House of Desserts is now open in Verity Lane (50 Northbourne Avenue, Canberra) with a customisable dessert bar. Serving up crepes, waffles, and pancakes with your choice of toppings as well as their iconic Bites, sushi and milkshakes, trust us when we say that sugar addicts will be lining up for their next rush.

Say hello to a new Bánh mì spot!
Damien and Amy of cult fave Bistro Nyugen’s have opened a second spot right next door, and it’s all about their signature Bánh Mì!
Expect crispy baguettes, fresh herbs and savoury fillings made with love and a whole lot of flavour.

Eighty/Twenty opens in Dickson
All about helping you find the balance in life, Eighty/Twenty is now open at 28 Challis Street in Dickson, taking over the spot where Nicky’s used to be. Marking their ninth venue in Canberra, you’ll be able to enjoy all your favourites, including the acai bowls, smoothies and more.
Mr B Pastel opens a brick-and-mortar store in Belconnen
And they’re bringing even more Brazilian street food to Canberra. Think: Pão de Queijo, hot sandwiches and desserts – including Brigadeiros.
Located at C16/2 Grazier Lane, Belconnen, make sure to bring your appetite. And don’t worry, you’ll still be able to get your hands on some pastels at the Old Bus Depot Markets on Sundays!
Moo Moo expands north
Since it opened on Lonsdale Street in Braddon last year, Moo Moo has been serving endless streams of luxe, Japanese-inspired frozen yoghurts to keen Canberrans in the city.
Well, those living in the north won’t have to travel as far to cure their frozen yogurt and acai cravings with Moo Moo opening a second location at Gungahlin Marketplace last week.
And El Jannah expands south!
This Lebanese charcoal-chicken joint has been a northside fave since it opened in 2023, and now southsiders can get their fix without the drive.
Bringing fresh flavours from Lebanon – including burgers, salads, rolls, boxes and fried chicken – it’s opening at Westfield Woden on Friday 13 December near Au Lac Royal Vegan Cuisine on Corinna Street.
Tuggeranong welcomes a new Indian restaurant to the neighbourhood
Namashkar Restaurant is now open on Anketell Street, and we’ll take a butter chicken please.
Serving up all the authentic dishes you know and love (yes, including goat curry), it’s open for both lunch and dinner.
Make sure to order a Pista Kulfi to finish off your meal!
And so does Kingston!
Taking over the space once filled by local fave Bollywood Masala, Amber Spice is opening soon at 46 Giles Street in Kingston.

Bloom Room brings a garden-themed café to the city
Now open at 34 Northbourne Avenue, Bloom Room is Canberra’s newest pancake haven.
With an entire menu dedicated to pancakes, options include the Fairy Wonderland (house made hot chocolate fudge, vanilla ice cream and 100s & 1000s), the Tiramisu Bliss (homemade chocolate coffee Kahlua sauce topped with espresso coffee infused mascarpone) and the Salted Almond Caramel (vanilla ice cream, house made salted caramel sauce and sprinkled with roasted almonds).
If that’s not enough, they also have classic breakfast, lunch and dinner options and a drinks menu spanning coffees, cocktails, mocktails, and more.
OOSHMAN is now open in Dickson
Founded in Sydney, OOSHMAN is all about authentic Lebanese baked goods with a modern twist – and now they’re open in Dickson.
Found on Cape Street, the new venue joins the Gungahlin, Weston and Greenway locations, meaning even more locals can dig into their pizzas, wraps, manoosh and more.
Incrust Pizzeria brings handcrafted pizzas to Bruce
Handcrafted pizzas with fresh dough and locally sourced ingredients – what’s not to love?

Bombay Ducks spreads its wings to the city

Curio Press brings gelato to LBG
If you’ve ever wanted to enjoy a scoop of gelato on your Bridge to Bridge, you’re in luck – Curio Press is opening their brand new gelato bar this Thursday!
Handcrafted from Emperador marble, it will be filled with 12 gelato flavours made with locally sourced ingredients.
Find them next to Blundells Cottage, from 6 am to 3 pm every day.
Wonder by Alice brings some whimsy to the city
The white rabbit has hopped over to Civic with the opening of Wonder by Alice in the Canberra Centre! Serving the same speciality drinks that have made the Tuggeranong location so popular, from a peanut latte to a hami melon latte and even a sea salt cheese latte, it will take you down the rabbit hole.

Loha is dishing up refined Indian fusion
Dishing up elevated Indian cuisine in a cosy, boutique setting, Loha is now open in Nicholls.
