Fresh ways to try yoga this summer

Posted on

Yoga is an activity that seems to defy fitness trends.

While other activities usually see a fluctuation in popularity, yoga is constantly on the rise with no sign of stopping.

While we love a good traditional vinyasa flow, we’ve also witnessed a new series of fresh activities pop up: think yoga with goats or kittens, or accompanied by a vino or brew.

Sign us up, buttercup!

Here are some of our favourite fresh takes on yoga, to try this summer:

Vino + Vinyasa

Fancy a Sauvignon blanc and savasana? What about a Pinot and plank – or perhaps a Cabernet and crow?

Yep, you read that correctly: Balanced Yoga are partnering with The Pop Inn to host yoga and wine in the park.

It’s a match made in heaven and the ultimate way to spend a sultry Canberra day.

Enjoy a fun vinyasa flow class that’s perfect for all levels, and then buy a glass (or two… or three…) of vino.

The class is suitable for all levels, including yoga newbies.

Goat Yoga Canberra has been incredibly popular since it’s recent arrival – one of their recent events sold out in only 18 minutes!s.

Cats on Mats

The good news? Canberra Pet Rescue are hosting Cats on Mats (Yoga with Kittens) this Sunday.

The bad news? It’s sold out.

However, this is just one of a series events – and we hope from the bottom of our hearts that there will be more on offer in the coming months.

Not only do participants get up close with cutest little kittens, they also get to directly help them, as all proceeds go directly to Canberra Pet Rescue.

Keep an eye on their Facebook page to keep up to date with classes.

Yoga in the vines

We’re sensing a trend here. And we like it.

This one is a full day dedicated to two of our favourites: wine and yoga.

Join Mel of Life Yoga Goulburn for a day of yoga, with two yoga classes, morning tea, lunch, a wine tasting and a sound healing session with Matt Omo (The Gong Guru).

Did we mention there’s wine?
