Six Podcasts You Should Be Listening To Right Now
Posted on
Unless you’ve been living under the Internet equivalent of a rock, you’ll know that podcasts were big in 2015 and are going to be even bigger in 2016.
More educational than watching Netflix and less effort than reading a book, listening to podcasts is a convenient way to get your daily media fix. Instead of watching cat videos on the Internet, you can be inspired by artists, educated by professors or entertained by comedians whenever you have a spare moment. The true crime series Serial kick-started this surge of popularity and now there are more amazing podcasts out there than you could listen to in a lifetime. Here are some of our favourites to get you started:
All The Best
All the Best is a weekly radio show and podcast produced at FBi Radio in Sydney. It has a similar format to This American Life, but with stories that resonate on a local level. Start with #1537 What Might Have Been, which tells the story of North Arm Cove, a suburb on the North Coast of NSW that was almost chosen to be the site of the nation’s new capital city instead of Canberra.

Like I’m A Six Year Old
Comedian Tom Ballard sits down with interesting and passionate people on a semi-regular basis to find out what they believe in. It’s honest, educational and occasionally laugh-out-loud funny. Start with #48, Tom’s recent interview with Mohammad Ali Baqiri who is a former refugee. He came to Australia by sea as a child and then spent three years in Australian immigration detention on Nauru.

Chat 10 Looks 3
Listening to Chat 10 Looks 3 is like being a fly on the wall of Annabel Crabb and Leigh Sales’ friendship, which is great seeing as you can’t actually be their best friend (yet). They talk about books, television, radio, movies, food, politics and whatever else they feel like. Start at the beginning and work your way through, otherwise you will miss out on the many hilarious in-jokes.

Oh Boy by Man Repeller
Jay Buim hosts the Man Repeller podcast and chats to women who are killing it in their chosen fields including fashion, beauty, writing and acting. Jay is a perceptive interviewer who always manages to draw out something inspiring. Start with Episode 001, where Leandra Medine, founder of Man Repeller, talks growing up in New York, accidentally launching a fashion mainstay, and not taking yourself too seriously.
The Moment with Ginger Gorman

Ginger will be having honest conversations with all kinds of women that you can listen to at your leisure.
