Keep kids moving this school holidays

It can be a tricky task keeping kids off the couch and active during the (ahem, ridiculously long) summer holidays.
If you’re keen to keep your children active and away from screens while learning new skills, then the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) holiday program is ideal.
Running from 2 January to 1 February, you can choose from the pre-school, swimming intensive, soccer, cricket, tennis, dance, and multi-sport programs.
AIS Manager of School Holiday programs Jesse McConaghy says the program provides a fantastic opportunity for children to stay active and engaged during holiday periods.
“Children benefit holistically from sport and physical activity, which includes boosting their physical and mental health, their social development and their ability to learn,” Jesse says.
“By creating active habits in children, right from pre-school age, we can put them on the path to active and more productive lives.”
With a focus on participation and fun, the programs are suitable for all skill and experience levels, and cater for children aged four to 13.
“The majority of our team are studying either education and / or sports science which gives them a great knowledge and skill base to deliver a fantastic experience for the kids who participate,” Jesse says.
“We regularly receive positive feedback from both parents and kids based on the wonderful time the kids have. Parents appreciate the opportunity for their children to be kept active and to learn new skills and make new friends, while also enjoying the fact that their kids are well worn out by the end of the day!”
“We find the that parents also appreciate the smooth processes in place for parents to drop-off and pick-up, which also assist in making the children feel more comfortable and at ease, especially if it is their first time attending. Bookings are now open, so get in early to secure a place for your child.”
