A summer oasis in Canberra

If you’re not going to make it to the beach these Christmas holidays, we may just have found the next best thing—minus the sand in your swimmers.

With live performances, early-afternoon happy hour, specialty cocktails and a summer share platter menu—all in an enclosed climate controlled rooftop bar—The Howling Moon at The Canberra Rex Hotel is set to transform into a tropical oasis this summer.

According to Sales and Events Manager, Kurt Hartmann, the venue wanted to provide a getaway for those staying in town.

“We want to provide a sanctuary and retreat for people to escape from the heat and holiday hustle and bustle,” Kurt says.

“With delicious drinks, modern alternatives to classic bar snacks and a view unlike anything else in Canberra, The Howling Moon is the ultimate place for people to do that and we wanted to share the experience.”

As Canberra’s first rooftop bar, The Howling Moon features panoramic views of Canberra amongst lush, modern interiors. Adding to the oasis will be live performances from local musicians every Saturday and Sunday until 4pm, happy hour from 12pm featuring discounted cocktail pitchers, and a barman’s surprise cocktail jug that changes each week.

“We promise a totally unique and breathtaking experience each and every time, be it for an exclusive gathering, a small party or quiet drinks,” says Kurt.
