36…39…42.

Sadly these aren’t the number of cakes currently being sent to our office or even the number of Ryan Gosling look-alikes in Canberra.

Instead, they’re the forecasted temperatures we can expect in Canberra over the coming days.

So, you’ll be needing some ways to cool off, and we have them in cake—I mean spades.

  1. Explore one of the local swimming spots.
  2. Take your favourite cricket fan to Pialligo Fields this Friday to watch Big Bash on the big screen (and in the air conditioning)—beer included!
  3. Cool off from the inside by making your own homemade ice cream.
  4. Can’t be bothered whipping it up yourself? Check out some of Canberra’s best ice cream parlours.
  5. Make a splash at Canberra Aqua Park.
  6. Cool down by the water this Saturday at the aptly named By the Water concert on Saturday evening featuring Eurovision superstar Dami Im and Canberra’s Caitlyn Shadbolt.
  7. Create your own oasis at home! Plan your own three-day-retreat to wind down and find some inner peace.
  8. Take the doggo for a splash at one of Canberra’s best dog swimming spots.
  9. Get all nostalgic with Paddle Boats.
  10. Get active indoors or with kids.
  11. Take a dip in one of Canberra’s pools or waterparks.
  12. Check out an exhibition—there’s so much to see! From Dreamworksto Game MastersMatisse & Picasso and more! Check out our round-up here.
  13. Quench your thirst with one of these delicious local cocktail creations.
  14. Discover a new fave restaurant (we have 50 of them!)
  15. Wind down and relax at one of Canberra’s day spas.
  16. Get the kids out of the house—we have 30 places to play indoors, whether they’re toddlers or teens!
  17. Or if they’re keen to get some air, head to one of these shady playgrounds.
  18. Find a cool, quiet café that’s pram-friendly.
  19. Head to the coast for a beach escape and support the communities who’ve been doing it tough this bushfire season.
  20. Or if you’re feeling like a getaway a little closer to home, take a day trip to explore the culinary and artisan delights of Braidwood or Bungendore.
  21. Curl up with a good book and travel without leaving the comfort of your reading nook.
  22. Try Float Yoga (yoga in a pool on a float!) with Saltiat Gungahlin or Lakeside Leisure Centres.
  23. Seek respite from the heat in the beauty of the Australian National Botanic Gardens’ Rainforest Gully.
  24. Chill out at Vertikal Indoor Snow at the funky Dairy Road Fyshwick precinct, where you can train for skiing and boarding and get snow fit in a simulated snow terrain (minus the snow!).
  25. How about some bougie takeaway in a shady park? Amici has the cheesy answers for you and your stomach.
