Hits of 2020: Cornerstone Pub (Best Pub)

A joint initiative by HIT104.7, Coordinate and HerCanberra, Hits of 2020 is Canberra’s way of giving back to their favourite local businesses after a difficult year.

Across three huge weeks, Canberra voted for everything from their favourite florist to their favourite tradie, pub, restaurant and even their local shops. Now we present to you the winners of the Hits of 2020.

Cornerstone (Best Pub)

A good local watering hole is an integral part of community-building.

Whether you’re finishing work or have finished playing sport for the day, Cornerstone—#gungahlinspub—has become a great little drinking hole for our friends in Gungahlin since opening in 2018.

Therefore, it isn’t a surprise that Cornerstone Pub was voted Canberra’s Best Pub for Hits of 2020. A collaboration between HIT104.7, Coordinate and HerCanberra, Hits of 2020 shines a light on our local businesses, giving the people the power to decide their favourites.

A chilled venue featuring a minimalist, modern fit out and a party terrace with plenty of outdoor seating options and their now infamous ping pong tables, Cornerstone Pub has a great pub atmosphere.

Cornerstone is perfect for a fun afternoon or relaxing with some drinks and dinner with friends—and being the home of the Gungahlin Eagles Rugby Club and the Redbacks Cricket Club, there’s always sport on the big screens.

On tap, Cornerstone Pub offers a variety of local Australian brews including Camperdown’s Malt Shovel Brewers, Byron Bay Brewery, Little Creatures and is now pouring the new Furphy Lager.

Beer not your thing? Don’t worry, their bar staff can mix you up a cocktail from their favourites list—or if you are in the know, ask for the secret cocktail menu…

From thick smoke and the bushfires, to closing their doors due to COVID-19 it’s fair to say that 2020 gave Cornerstone a fair whack. Lucky for you, Cornerstone Pub is now fully operational once more, while maintaining full compliance with COVID safety restrictions.

“2020 has hit the hospitality industry pretty hard but our staff have been great both while we were closed and since we have re-opened and we can’t thank them and our regulars enough for helping us out,” says Corporate Affairs Manager for Eastlake, Louize Glenn. “We love Gungahlin—we are Gungahlin’s Pub.”
