Everything we know about Woden’s newest party venue

Posted on

You’d be forgiven if you thought you had your last hurrah in 2020.

Back in the day, we’d bejewel and bedazzle ourselves before heading out for a night with family and friends. But for the last couple of years, staying in has become the new going out. Woden’s newest local is here to change all that—inspiring you to put aside your tracksuit pants and find your party shoes to celebrate all the best things in life: friendship, family, fun, and food.

Located off Furzer Street in Woden, The Alby—a gastropub boasting multiple bars, dining spaces, a large beer garden, and a games basement—is not just a dinner option. It’s the perfect location to enjoy great food, drinks, and entertainment because after the last few years everyone deserves a birthday blowout they won’t forget.

The venue

From a modern bar to Australia’s first Duckpin Bowling, a function at The Alby has everything your little party heart could desire.

Book the games basement for up to 120 guests and enjoy a celebration with something a little different. Perfect for the young at heart, you’ll find a bar, pinball (including the just-released Guns N’ Roses machine), pool tables, Duckpin Bowling, and more.

Everything is best enjoyed with a drink in hand, and the menu has a delicious Mexican bent—featuring tacos, nachos, and empanadas, among other things.

For a more intimate affair, the upstairs dining area can cater to any style of function. Encompassing a bar, a mix of low and high top tables, and a chef’s table, it’s the perfect combination of relaxed ambience and sleek elegance. The space has room for up to 100 guests, however, the central fireplace allows the bar and dining areas to be split for smaller groups to create a semi-private space. For a larger gathering, the chef’s table brings guests together into one table for a shared dining experience.

It doesn’t matter if it’s day or night, The Alby is the ideal option for sit-down dining or a cocktail-style celebration. But if you’d prefer something more relaxed, you can’t go past the beer garden.

Perfect on a clear, sunny day or a warm night, the open air space has a casual, local vibe. Scattered with low nesting tables, you can enjoy the atmosphere of the surrounding precinct as you sip a wine or local beer.

The food + drink

To make your party the talk of the town, The Alby has platter and beverage packages available. You can choose from a selection of six pizzas (cooked in the feature pizza oven), antipasto platters, or a sharing menu that includes amazing dessert options like the spiced pumpkin donuts with Irish coffee dipping cream. There are also gluten-free and vegetarian options available so no one has to miss out.

For a curated list of wines, beers and soft drinks, choose from the silver or gold beverage packages which are available for up to three hours. Sip on a bright and fresh bubbly with hints of fresh herbs, or a red with a suggestion of vanilla, and enjoy the casual yet chic atmosphere.

You can always add some spirits to the package, or if you have something specific in mind, The Alby’s events specialist can customise options upon request. You can also add games to your package!

There’s plenty more planned for The Alby over the coming months—keep your eyes peeled to see what’s coming next and get ready to rock and bowl as the 1,000m2 gastropub brings life to your party.
