Keep your eyes peeled, the Robertson Potato Festival is back!

No matter whether they’re boiled, fried, mashed or roasted, we can’t seem to get enough of potatoes. And if you (like us) are a spud lover, then this event is for you.
Just a two-hour car trip away, Robertson—also known as the home of the Big Potato (a national treasure, in our humble opinion)—is gearing up for another spud-tacular Potato Festival, which promises to be even better and potato-ey-er than ever!
This year’s yam-packed festival will run for two days from Saturday 6 until Sunday 7 May at the Robertson Showground, where there’s sure to be something to a-peel to everyone. With live music, plenty of food stalls, cooking demonstrations, helicopter rides and more!
If you deem yourself a bit of a fashionista, then the return of the signature, high fashion, couture event of the year “Hessians on the Field” will be right up your alley. This event gives participants the chance to get innovative and create an outfit made from (you guessed it) a potato sack. Although, this year the addition of “pets on the field” will mean you can strut your stuff with your furry bestie, rocking a matching paw-tato fit. Prizes include two Singer sewing machines, cash and most importantly, the chance to be crowned the “hottest of hot” potatoes.
If you’re a hardcore potato devotee and enjoy the thrill of competing, why not take part in activities such as the peeling competition, potato picking and speed bagging, potato stacking, and—not for the faint-hearted—the mash-eating competition. For the small fries, there will be free face painting, rides and an animal petting yard.
If you’re looking to escape the city for a fun weekend away and have a love of potatoes, this is a mash made in heaven.
