It’s time for your wardrobe to have a retro revival—and Canberra Centre is here to help you hit rewind

Posted on

Seeking the perfect autumn/winter fashion inspiration for a seasonal wardrobe update? Canberra Centre is here to help you hit rewind and celebrate the best bits of bygone decades.

Bringing back the best of the ‘50s, ‘70s, and ‘90s and reinterpreting their respective trends through a modern lens, Canberra Centre’s new autumn/winter campaign #HELLOAGAIN will help you see why a retro revival is perfect for a city where winter fashion is a very, very serious business.

Because from the polished tailoring and playful pastels of the ‘50s, the silhouettes of the ‘90s, and the explosions of the psychedelic colour of the ‘70s, this season is all about bringing back some of the most iconic fashion moments from throughout the decades—while reimagining the looks to fit a more modern aesthetic for the cooler months.

But where do you even begin? Helping you to turn back time, Canberra Centre is hosting two workshops with Sephora, Style Liberation and The Martini Whisperer where you can learn how to integrate these looks into your everyday wardrobe (without fear of repeating some of the fashion faux pas that still haunts you to this day).

Who needs to read Vogue for inspiration? You just need to book into these—it’s literally a fashion-fuelled trip down memory lane.

In the Retro Fashion and Cocktail Masterclass on Saturday 29 April, you’ll have the chance to join the Style Liberation team as they break down the basics to getting your 50s, 70s and 90s retro on (think pearls, flared silhouettes and combat boots).

Running across an hour and a half, it’s the perfect opportunity to learn some style secrets that you can shop in the Canberra Centre while you nibble away on some delicious snacks—and with special guest Phillip Jones (AKA The Martini Whisperer) hosting a cocktail masterclass, you’ll also be able to choose from one of two retro-inspired drinks to sip away on while learning how to make your own concoctions at home. Cheers to that!

Saturday 29 April, 1 pm – 2:30 pm | Canberra Centre, Level 1, Monaro Mall (Near David Jones) | Book here.

Say hello again to ‘70s beauty

If you’re looking to rekindle your love for beauty looks inspired by the decades, the Sephora 70s Make Up Masterclass will see you shopping this season’s top beauty buys while learning from the best in business. In this special hour-long session, Sephora Collection’s own makeup artist will be demonstrating how to integrate the 70s retro make-up styles into today’s most up-to-date look.

Exploring the disco era that’s known for bright eyeshadow, dramatic eyeliner and glitter accents (as well as more natural dewy skin, sheer lips and rosy cheeks), the skills and secrets you’ll learn are being kept a total surprise—but what we do know is you better prepare to walk away inspired to change up your makeup routine (after trying the cocktails and ‘70s nibble of course).

Saturday 20 May, 1 pm – 2 pm | Canberra Centre, Level 1, Monaro Mall (Near David Jones) | Book here.
