Did someone say ‘free plant giveaway in the city tomorrow’…?

Yep, you read that right. Tomorrow, Wednesday 26 April, the City Renewal Authority is holding a plant giveaway and you’re invited.
Why, you ask? To help Garema Place’s floral population live its best extended life—in your garden.
Interested? Just rock up at the silver pillow (ahem) in Garema Place between 12 pm and 2 pm tomorrow, Wednesday 26 April with open arms and empty shopping bags. There will be literally hundreds of plants up for grabs.
The plant giveaway will also give you a chance to explore an information pop-up run by the team behind the City Renewal Authority’s proposed Garema Place upgrade.
Upgrade, you say? Yep, it’s finally happening, with proposed features including:
- Accessible single-level pavement and easier pedestrian flow
- Better lighting to create a safer and more appealing precinct in the evenings
- Improved seating and outdoor dining spaces to enjoy food and drink from local businesses
- Trees and gardens to cool the space in summer and let the sunshine through in winter
- An open and versatile space that supports both special events and everyday activities.
