Disability expo showing how to harness the unique abilities of all

Posted on

Logan Firth is a resilient young author and disability advocate who is the official ambassador for the 2025 Canberra Disability & WorkAbility Expo.

She will be on hand to show off her achievements and spirit today and tomorrow at EPIC as the expo unveils a wide range of services, supports and connections available to help people of every ability to achieve their best.

Logan is passionate about breaking stigmas and empowering others through storytelling, and at just 19, she has already published her debut historical fiction novel, Sydney’s Convicts, which explores Australia’s colonial past through the lens of trauma, mental health, and resilience.

She lives with PTSD, Autism, an intellectual disability, general anxiety disorder, and an eating disorder.

“It’s about breaking the stigma and showing a different perspective…I want people to realise that no matter what’s happened to you, you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it,” she says.

Logan also works as a tour guide for the National Capital Authority and volunteers with Scouts Australia, mentoring younger members and helping them discover their values and strengths.

At the event, Logan will take to the stage to share her journey, read from her book, and speak about the importance of inclusion and mental health awareness.

The expo is designed to connect thousands of people with disability with close to a hundred product, service and employment providers.

Over two days, attendees will be able to explore financial and legal services, education, training and employment providers, social and leisure options, transport and vehicles, health and medical products and services.

Visitors will also be able to utilise the event’s unique, Workability focus, which provides access to employment options and networking opportunities for people in the disability community.

According to Logan “Living with mental and medical conditions myself, the expo has shown me how a beautiful community built on strength, endurance, and hope inspires the ever evolving workplaces”.

She said the expo would give all people an insight into the opportunities in the workforce and the different jobs available.

“The expo shows that no matter your disability that you have potential that no one else really has. As disabled people, we see the world in a very different way, which enables us to uniquely develop passions and restless drives to achieve our dreams. Coming here will show you what the disability community is ultimately about – love, acceptance, believing, and achieving.”
