Dining out with coeliac disease can pose something of a challenge, but these Canberra restaurants are serving up some great gluten-free eats.
Serving up some amazing dishes that are full of flavour (and don’t disintegrate before you even take a bite), from true Italian pasta to Nikkei cuisine, these five places in Canberra are must-visits for gluten-free foodies.

If you’re seeking a great dining experience for a special evening, INKA is the place to go. With a Nikkei (a fusion of Peruvian and Japanese) cuisine tasting menu that can be made completely gluten-free, the selection of dishes is diverse – ranging from Nasu Dengaku to Potato Crisp Huancaina – and the staff are incredibly knowledgeable about what you can and can’t eat.
Make sure to order the INKA Chocolate Fondant for dessert – with dulce de leche, miso caramel, chocolate soil and banana ice cream, it tastes so good you won’t believe it’s gluten-free.

A staple in the Canberra food community, Briscola established itself with its unpretentious approach to an authentic Italian dining experience. But did you know it’s also a haven for gluten-free and coeliac foodies?
Clearly marking all the gluten-free options on the menu – which includes calamaretti and risotto – all the pasta and mains can be made gluten-free on request. The staff will also go through the menu with your table to ensure which meals are safe and they’ll advise the kitchen staff of your dietary requirements.
It’s simple, wholesome and traditional. And even better, it’s delicious.

Coeliac-aware and offering an extensive range of gluten-free options, the menu is focused on fresh, seasonal produce that’s inspired by the flavours of Eastern Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisines.
Elevate your meal with a Greek or Turkish wine or indulge in one of their signature cocktails, like the Turkish Delight.

This Asian fusion restaurant designed its menu with dietaries in mind, making it ideal for a delicious meal out.
Inspired by the chef-owner’s daughter’s difficulty finding allergy-friendly restaurants, the food at Dada draws inspiration from Korea, Japan, Vietnam and Italy, creating unexpected flavour combinations that somehow just work.
With a seasonally changing menu, start with the gluten-free rice bread served with whipped brown ghee butter and finish with the Matcha Crème Brûlée with strawberry mochi.

From butternut ravioli to juniper and pink pepper-infused sirloin, eggplant chips and Korean fried chicken, you’ll feel almost overwhelmed by choice.
With so many delicious gluten-free options available, coeliacs should add this to their regular rotation.
