Three DIY beauty treatments you have to try
Posted on
Lately I’m hearing of more and more people who are started to create their own beauty treatments at home.
There seem to be several reasons for this:
- If you create it then you know exactly what’s in it. You can skip the harsh chemicals and keep it completely natural.
- It’s much cheaper to create your own beauty treatment than fork out hundreds of dollars for a ‘professional’ product.
I’ve spent the past two weeks trialling some recipes and I’ve found these to be the best!
Avocado Hair Mask
Mix one avocado, the yolk of an egg and a tablespoon of olive oil together in a small bowl.
Slather it over your scalp and the rest of your hair. Place a plastic shower cap over your head (or you can use glad wrap).
Let the mask sit for 20 minutes then rinse and shampoo and condition your hair as normal.
Baking Soda Exfoliant
Make a paste with 4 teaspoons of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of water. Let it sit for 2 minutes, and then apply it in small, circular motions to your moistened face (avoiding the eye area) and neck.
After 3 minutes, rinse clean with warm water and then follow up with a splash of cold water to close your pores.
Finish with a dollop of your regular daily moisturiser.
Lemon and Honey Lip Scrub
Mix together 1 teaspoon of coconut oil, 1 teaspoon of raw honey and 2 tablespoons of raw brown sugar with a dash of lemon juice.
Use a soft bristle toothbrush or finger to dip into the scrub. Use soft circular motions across your lips.
Rinse with water and apply your favourite lip balm afterwards for soft and silky lips.
What’s your favourite DIY beauty treatment?
