Blooms on wheels

When it comes to florals, founder of The Floral Society Renee Dorous has three rules: no cellophane, gerberas or teddy-bears.
“We pride ourselves on putting some fun back into buying flowers,” Renee says.
“We’ve introduced free ‘hump day donuts’ on Wednesdays, our Flower Bar and [free quarterly newspaper] The Floral Society Press…turning what is sometimes an old-fashioned industry completely on it’s head.”
Now the Kingston-based florist is set to make ordering a fresh bunch of blooms easier than ever with today’s launch of its new Flower Truck.
Designed as a completely self-sufficient florist-on-wheels, the Flower Truck will pop-up at random, curb-side locations all over Canberra from Thursday to Sunday each week, while customers will be able to ‘Track the Truck’ via The Floral Society’s social media pages to receive updates on the latest locations.
To celebrate the launch, The Floral Society are giving away free, flower-flavoured cupcakes with every bunch purchased today and $5,000 worth of prizes including tickets to Flower School, Floral Subscriptions and free bunches.
“All customers need to do is track down the truck at one of the various, pop-up locations around Canberra,” says Renee.
The Flower Truck will feature a fixed menu of fresh bunches that customers can order from starting from $20, emulating the way ordering from a Food Truck works.
With names like ‘Chin Up Sista’ (a cheer up bunch), ‘Hello Handsome’ (for the bloke in your life) and ‘Love You Long Time’ (for the apple of your eye), Renee says the new concept is set to be a hit with local floral-lovers and loyal fans of The Floral Society alike.
“We’re looking forward to shaking up the local floristry industry even further with this fresh new concept,” she says.
“As with our innovative Flower Bar concept-store in Kingston, where customers can drop-in to build their own bunch; the Flower Truck acts a new touch-point for our customers, it’s another way to get involved with our brand, in a way that is completely new to Canberra.”
