This year, the Canberra Times Fun Run has introduced a 5km Paw Parade so you and your dog can participate together for the first time ever.

Registrations are open for one of Canberra’s best-loved community events, The Canberra Times Fun Run, which will take place in the capital on Sunday 23 September 2018.

Thousands of individuals, families and groups of friends are set to come together from across the ACT and surrounds, to take part in the 1km, 5km or 10km events and now for the first time in the event’s history, the Fun Run is excited to announce a 5km Paw Parade route.

Participants and their dogs taking part in this year’s Fun Run will have the opportunity to stroll, walk, jog or run along stunning routes that take in some of the city’s most iconic landmarks including the Parliamentary Triangle and Lake Burley Griffin. All routes will meet at Rond Terrace, overlooking the picturesque lake, where friends and family members can enjoy the Fun Run finale celebrations together.

The event village at Rond Terrace will feature a range of activities for the kids, as well as a warm down zone for participants, an ACT Athletics Sprint Zone where you can race against your mate, food and drink options and much more.

“Now in it’s 43rd year, the atmosphere created by participants and the incredible support from the local community makes The Canberra Times Fun Run one of the most loved events in the capital,” says Sarah Young, Head of Sport at Fairfax Events.

“We are so excited that this year we are able to introduce the first ever 5km Paw Parade course to the Fun Run, making the event a truly perfect day out for the whole family. So grab your little ones, friends, colleagues, family members and dogs and come together with thousands from across the ACT to help make this year’s event the best yet.”

“Following celebrations at the Fun Run finale, participants and spectators will be able to take a short walk across to Commonwealth Park to experience Floriade, Canberra’s stunning Spring festival of flowers, ensuring a perfect day out for all.”
