Five surprising ways to heat up your winter fitness routine

Posted on

Here’s how to shake off Canberra’s seasonal blues this winter with five fun-filled fitness routines.

Finding the motivation to exercise in winter can sometimes be a bigger challenge than a workout itself – and as the days get shorter and colder, we wouldn’t blame you if you’d rather hit snooze than a spin class.

But we’re here to help you keep motivated and moving, and luckily for you, we’ve found five surprising ways to heat up your fitness routine in Canberra – from hot mat Pilates to roller dance lessons.

It’s time to get physical.

Hot Mat Pilates at Love Athletica

We meant it when we said you could heat up your fitness routine, because with the launch of Hot Mat Pilates at Love Athletica, this winter you’ll be sweating instead of shivering. Making your usual Pilates routine even hotter, you’ll definitely be feeling the burn in their dedicated Hot Mat studio as you take their three signature Heated Mat class formats.

With infrared heating panels heating the studio up to 30 or 35 degrees, the Love Athletica classes all offer a full body burn (literally) with strength and HIIT bursts, as well as a yoga-inspired stretch and flow to finish.

Add in an overhead cooling spritz to balance out the heat and revitalise you for whatever’s next in your day (which you can begin by using their luxurious bathroom facilities) and we’ve found your next workout obsession.

This purpose-built playground for the fastest-growing racquet sports in the world is all indoors, making it a great space to try your hand at padel and pickleball this winter. Complete with pink padel courts and panoramic glass (perfect for both playing and spectating) as well as a luxurious space to relax pre- and post-game – including a coffee machine and soon to be a fully stocked bar – this is one workout that’s so much fun, you’ll forget that you’re actually exercising.
