Five ways to reset body and soul this spring

Posted on

Spring has sprung in Canberra, and if you’re anything like us, you’ve been infected with a sudden urge to mix things up a bit.

So we’ve found five ways to reset your body and soul this spring – from new fitness obsessions to fine fusion dining. And you’ll find them all in Canberra city.

While the light rail construction continues around the city, the businesses along London Circuit remain open and ready to help you usher in the warmer weather, Canberra-style.

Start your morning with movement

Start your day with movement that energises you for the hours ahead. We’ve got two options depending on your fitness preference, but both will leave you feeling energised and accomplished, ready for the rest of your day.

Team Pilates’ sessions blend contemporary reformer Pilates with resistance training. Team FORM classes focus on strength, mobility, and flexibility through controlled sequences – beginner-friendly but challenging for all levels. For more intensity, the FIT Room delivers progressive strength-focused sessions with its dark aesthetic, disco ball, and blue LED lights, using reformer springs, weighted props, and resistance tools.

HITT more your thing? 98 Gym’s 45-60 minute classes are designed by sports scientists as part of a larger training program, focusing on high-octane strength and conditioning rather than aesthetics or weight loss. With a range of different class types throughout the week – including strength training, conditioning, cardio, and “game day” – each session has a specific purpose.

Get your body set for success

If you’ve spent the entire Canberra winter in hibernation mode, chances are that jumping straight into a rigorous workout routine might be a bit of a shock for your body. So it’s a good idea to get some professional advice on how to prevent injury and optimise recovery.

Capital Clinic Physiotherapy offers a holistic approach to injury management, rehabilitation and preventative care programs. Their focus on helping clients achieve long-term health and wellbeing makes this more than just post-workout recovery – it’s preparation for the active months ahead.

Give your home a spring makeover with some floral brights

It’s not just your body that benefits from a little spring pick-me-up. A fresh splash of floral colour brings beauty into your personal space and can do wonders for your mood.

West Row Botanica offers a gorgeous range of seasonal arrangements – we love the aptly named ‘Joy of Spring’ bouquet, but also find ourselves cheered by their Happy & Bright bunch.

Janine’s Florist is another lovely local florist with bouquets to brighten your day – we can’t pick a favourite from their native Bush Beauty bouquet and their Pretty Pink Mixed Posies. One of each, perhaps?

Mark the start of spring with something that will outlast the season

This one isn’t for everyone, and that’s perfectly fine. But if you’ve ever toyed with getting a tattoo, could spring be the perfect time?

Pop into Canberra tattoo studios Sisters Inked and Freestyle Tattoo Studio to find a design that speaks to you – or work with them on a custom creation that’s unique to you.

Keep an eye out for their flash days where you can show up and choose from a range of pre-drawn, pre-designed “flash” tattoos at a great price.

Both studios offer walk-ins and bookings, with Freestyle also offering piercing services.

Food for the soul (and the tummy)

A proper self-care circuit deserves a proper finale, and what better way to end than with a delicious meal.

Located in the heritage-listed Melbourne Building, Flui brings “east meets west in a laid-back setting” to life with a seasonal menu focussing on fresh, local produce. Think dishes like oysters with finger lime, pork scotch fillet with “taco” seasoning and fermented jalapeno mayo, and orange chili flan with caramel and matcha ice cream.

Indulge yourself or share with a friend – after all, good company is also good self-care!

Getting there and parking

The light rail construction means the London Circuit area looks a little different these days, but everything is still open for business!

Directional signage around construction areas makes navigation straightforward, and there are plenty of options when it comes to parking. View the printable City parking map to check out the most convenient spot to park – or take public transport and enjoy a glass or two of wine as you round out your night. Cheers to that!
