At HerCanberra, we know how tough it can be to get out there and try something new. Introducing HerCanberra’s Get ACTIVE—an entire year of free fitness activities.

Still got those New Year’s Resolutions intact? Didn’t make any? No matter how you’ve started your year, there’s always time to try something new and there’s never been a better time to shake up your routine and get active!

We’re making it easy with HerCanberra’s Get ACTIVE—an entire year of free fitness activities made possible with the support of the ACT Government’s Participation Innovation Fund.

So, what’s in store for February? We’re glad you asked!

All you need to do is decide what activity (or activities) you’d like to try, book in, and show up with a great attitude 

WEEK 1

Week commencing 3 February

JAZZERCISE

Jazzercise is the original dance party workout.

This one-hour session is set to Top 40 music and blends dance with Pilates, yoga, kickboxing and strength training.

The results? Long, lean muscles and an undeniable mood boost.

Bring a drink bottle, exercise mat and hand weights if you have any.

When: Wednesday 5 February
Time: 6.30–7.30 pm

SHE WHO RUNS

Running is for absolutely anyone. Any age, shape, size, race, it’s the one sport in the world that ANYONE can do!

She Who Runs is a girls-only running group for all fitness levels. Aiming to support, empower and lift you up through their group running sessions every week.

She Who Runs is lead by an accredited run leader and guarantees good vibes within a supportive environment.

WANT TO HELP CANBERRA GET ACTIVE?

When it comes to fitness, it’s not one-size-fits-all—some of us like to run, others would rather stick pins in their eyes. Some love nothing more than ball sports, whereas others can’t live without CrossFit.

We want to give our readers the opportunity to try the huge diversity of activities that Canberra has to offer—and that’s where our local fitness providers come in.

We’re asking sporting groups and health and fitness providers, to give our readers the opportunity to participate in an activity for free as part of our year-long Get ACTIVE series.

From our readers’ perspective, it’s a chance to try a new sport, class or activity at no cost, without the hassle of finding friends to come along or mustering the courage to go it alone.

It’s taking the intimidation factor out of trying something new, because we’re all in it together.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

The chance to put yourself in from of our audience of 130,000+ unique readers a month—most of whom are Canberra women between 20 and 50.

We want as many women in Canberra to get active—with you. We want them to fall in love with a new way of moving their body, or an old, forgotten favourite.

We want them to sweat, have fun, and connect with themselves, each other, and you.

SOUND GOOD?

Great! We’re now looking for activities from March 2020 onwards.

We just need to know a little bit more about the activity you’d like to offer. It could be anything, including:

  • Staging a free ‘come and try’ session/s for your sport or activity
  • Providing a free class pass
  • Offering a free trial
  • Anything else that gives people a chance to get active in a low risk and accessible environment.
