Dance and fitness studio DC Fit has launched REBOOT—a series of outings, seminars and workshops between June and August that will teach you the basics of how to look after your body right so your mind can thrive.

We all know that it’s tempting to hibernate through a Canberra winter, particularly when we’re already deep into the minuses (and did someone mention snow?). And while the couch and comfort food definitely have their place, it’s important to prioritise being healthy and active—both physically and mentally.

“The winter chill and darkness can really derail your motivation and negatively impact your wellbeing,” says DC Fit Founder Julie Scheer.

“Not everybody has a health-focused support system around them—many Canberra women have the added pressure of making new friends as an adult—it all adds up to a seriously long slog through the cooler months. Think early evenings with no healthy movement, fewer social plans, and an even harder time reaching your goals.’

That’s why DC Fita dance and fitness studio in Phillip—has launched REBOOT, a series of outings, seminars and workshops between June and August that will teach you the basics of how to look after your body right so your mind can thrive.

“Over the next three months, we’re collaborating with local Canberra businesses and experts for a series of fortnightly events focused on social and physical wellbeing,” says Julie.

“We all already know that fitness, nutrition, sleep, and mindfulness are important, but we just need some guidance to learn to prioritise them well.”

“Each event will teach you how to implement structural change to your life. You’ll go home every time with simple, actionable advice that’ll mean you’ll finally be progressing, not backsliding, over winter.”

Events include a Slow Flow Class and Meditation Session at Flow Yoga studios, Nutrition Seminar and Q&A with The Healthy Eating Clinic, and a Self-Care Session at Jindii Eco Spa, nestled in the Botanic Gardens.

Between those sessions, DC Fit will host a number of casual meetups to keep members moving and connected—a group outing to the contemporary dance work ‘Unveiled’, a movie at the National Film and Sound Archive, walks around the lake, a high-energy class and dinner at their studios, and more!

How do you join?

Well, it’s as easy as snapping up a DC Fit membership—a fixed price for one month or three months of unlimited classes and events.

While REBOOT is only happening for a short time, every week, DC Fit’s regular schedule includes amazing Bounce (mini-trampoline fitness!) and Barre as well as dance classes like Hip Hop, Ballet, Heels, Tap, Contemporary and Acrobatics.

Health and wellbeing are their areas of expertise and it shows—every one of their classes will leave you feeling energised.

“These extra REBOOT offerings will turn winter from a period you ‘just have to get through’ to an opportunity to become more mindful, balanced, socially connected, and disciplined,” says Julie.

“So, do you want to keep doing winter how you always do? Or, do you want to use these 3 months for something more?”

Three steps to rebooting your life this winter

Go grab your DC Fit membership to gain FREE access to all events in the series, as well as DC Fit’s entire schedule of dance and fitness classes.
