Secret Couple’s Business – Resolving Infertility

Around one in five couples in Australia need help to get pregnant.
It’s the lead up to Mother’s Day. For many women, this is a joyful time…for others, it’s one of heartbreak.
Around one in five couples in Australia need help to get pregnant. Despite this astounding figure, infertility is not something that is talked about freely. As with a number of other issues that seem to be seen as predominantly ‘women’s issues’, the vulnerability that we as women feel when confronted with them means that we often avoid talking about them.
“At the heart of it are shame, embarrassment and fear. If falling pregnant isn’t working for you then life just stops. It creates a lot of anxiety, uncertainty and stress, which exacerbates the problem,” says Wesley Smith, Director of Canberra’s Live Well Spa and Wellness Centre.
Since 1976, the total fertility rate for Australia has been below replacement level, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. It’s an issue that Live Well is focussing on this month, with the aim of stimulating discussion about infertility.
“Often, people faced with infertility are struggling. They need more information but are not sure where they can get it and we can help. There is actually a lot you can do to resolve infertility naturally,” says Smith.
Wesley’s passion for assisting couples through this hard time has led to the creation of a one-hour webinar to be held at 7pm this Tuesday 5 May. The webinar will discuss ways to resolve infertility naturally, and provide access to four of the experts from Live Well to share the keys to boosting fertility, natural solutions to resolve the causes of infertility, and holistic strategies to prepare both body and mind for pregnancy.
“Some people confuse infertility with not yet being pregnant. Fertility comes from having excellent health and wellbeing,” says Wesley.
The natural therapy approach to infertility focuses on regulating hormones, ovulation and the menstrual cycle, and on producing better quality sperm. More importantly, where couples are facing infertility but their doctors have not been able to determine a cause, natural fertility can offer solutions. The focus on restoring the natural balance of to the body means natural therapies can also assist where there has been a diagnosis such as PCOS, endometriosis or ovulation problems.
“Natural therapies give a more hopeful and uplifting message, rather than just talking about infertility,” according to Wesley.
If you’re keen to join the conversation, get answers on your questions about infertility and how natural therapies may help improve a couple’s chances of conceiving, or just to listen, book your place on the webinar here.
