COVEN
The darkness beckons. The shadows whisper. The witches summon you. Join the Coven. Floriade
The theme? Floral Wonderland. Us? Keen. Canberra’s annual festival of spring is back for another year! With the theme of Floral Wonderland, across the month there will be a bouquet (sorry) of spring-y activities, including circus performances and cabaret in the Floriade Wonderland Spiegeltent, a show called Circus Wonderland: A Neverland Adventure and everyone’s favourite pooch bonanza, Dogs’ Day Out. Nightfest

A little bit arty and a little bit fetey, head along to this open day to discover Canberra’s best kept secret, Strathnairn Arts. Strathnairn Arts has been home to a variety of world-renowned artists since its transformation from a working homestead to an arts facility in the 1970s. Government House Open Day
Government House Open Day is an opportunity to explore one of the most historic properties in Australia, enjoy the beautiful gardens and tour the Governor-General’s official residence. Guided walking tours will run throughout the Open Day – and no tickets are required.

Plant sales, bonsai displays and more – this annual show has it all. Googong’s Rural Fire Service Open Day
Googong’s Rural Fire Service Open Day is back, bringing fun-filled entertainment for the whole family all while celebrating the local heroes of the Jerrabomberra Creek Rural Fire Brigade. Children will have the chance to try on the firefighter’s official uniform for size, climb the big red fire trucks, and even use the hoses under the watchful eye of the brigade. Walk for Prems

Shakespeare Rocks
This is Shakespeare’s Henry Sixth Part One as you’ve never seen it, or heard it. Welcome to the Rockspeare universe where the history plays are recast as political plays and epic text is combined with an epic soundscape. Normally a play presented as an uncompromising celebration of early English nationalism, this portrayal is bold, cheeky and fun with a non-binary and female cast taking you to a different universe. Impro Acts: Duets
A theatrical inquiry into every imaginable type of relationship pairing (including romantic to familial and from collegiate to frenemies) at this show different scenarios will be presented every night in a duet. Halloween Double Feature: Pearl + X
In honour of Halloween, NFSA are presenting a double feature of terror with Pearl and X at Arc Cinema! Filmed back-to-back in New Zealand, Ti West’s films introduced the world to Pearl (Mia Goth). She is introduced as the elderly killer in X, and then Pearl fills out her backstory and offers an interesting view into her twisted mind and what drives her to kill. It will be a horror filled night – just the way we like it.

Brass on the Grass
The Hall Heritage Centre is once again presenting a brass band concert! This year the brass band concert will feature Canberra Brass. It will be held on the lawns of the Heritage Centre and will give people the opportunity to experience a traditional family friendly band in the park concert. Genevieve Lacey and James Crabb In Concert

Plasticus Organicus
Hundreds of thousands of bread tags turned into sculptures—it’s an unexpected but powerful combination. Created by Shani Nottingham (a multi-disciplinary artist that lives and works in Central West New South Wales) this exhibition presents an artificial world made entirely of bread tags that mimic our natural and built environments.
Visually stunning and thought-provoking, it highlights the issues surrounding mass production and how all our actions have impacts on the natural world.

Remnants
Remnants is a body of work that stems from the artists’ curiosity with family photos and heirlooms. Created by Isobel Kennedy (who was inspired by collecting, assembling and reflecting upon the personal effects of her Nonni and Bisnonni), the hope is to inspire the viewer to look at the connections they have with the past and to see them in a new light, before it might be too late.

The Future Unfolds

Zero Waste: Doing It Imperfectly
Since finding her first drawer on the street a few years ago, Nancy Lane has been contemplating different ‘drawer’ projects. In this exhibition, she uses drawers to symbolise global, systemic ‘boxed in’ thinking in relation to sustainability and climate change. Why? She hopes that these depictions of systemic complacency juxtaposed with personal commitment will inspire you to refuse, reduce, reuse, repurpose and recycle.

Madonna40: A Celebration
This year, international music icon, Madonna is celebrating 40 years in the music business. Guns & Flowers: Ex de Medici
Ex de Medici grew up and lives in Canberra and is one of Australia’s leading contemporary artists.
