All aboard! The Wizards Express is rolling into the Canberra Railway Museum

Calling all witches and wizards – this is your chance to go to Hogwarts.
Well, not exactly. But it is an event that will make Harry Potter fans more excited than Hagrid getting his hands on another magical creature (if you know, you know).
On Sunday 20 October, the Canberra Railway Museum is collaborating with Quizzic Alley, Australia’s most magical store, to bring you Magic at the Museum – a day out dedicated to all things HP.
And in exciting news, Wizards Express will be pulling into Canberra Railway Museum so attendees feel immersed in the wonder and whimsy of the wizarding world.
That’s right, you can climb in and explore the waiting passenger cars, and imagine yourself being whisked away to wizarding school, complete with the train’s headlight shining and smoke billowing. And no, there will be no special appearances from dementors…we hope.
The famous blue Ford Anglia will also be making an appearance (providing a fantastic photo opportunity), there are games and prizes to be won and you can even spoil yourself in the Quizzic Alley gift shop.
While you’re there, you can also explore more the spooks and spirits that haunt the museum over the Halloween season, and dine on some magical treats and refreshments at the picnic area.
Raising funds for the restoration of steam locomotive 3016, built in Manchester in 1903, the money from ticket sales are going towards the costly repairs to run it again.
“It’s a major undertaking,” explains event coordinator Ewout Rohling. “We’re a fully volunteer-run organisation. We rely on the generosity of the public and the boundless passion of our volunteers to bring these projects to fruition.”
“People find themselves drawn to steam trains. They have a magical quality all of their own. We’re going to bring that magic to Canberra.”
