Hey LEGO lovers, do we have some news for you!
From Saturday 6 November you’ll be able to line up for blocks (sorry) as Canberra’s first LEGO Certified store opens its doors to the public from 9am.
The landmark 250+sqm new store is situated in prime position at Canberra Centre as a signature LEGO brand retail experience, including custom built brick features which draw inspiration from local icons and landmarks–including a large 3D mosaic of hot air balloons over Lake Burley Griffin.
Composed of a whopping 11,327 LEGO bricks, the mosaic represents 126 hours of building time and is the perfect Canberra icon to celebrate the stores opening with brick fans of all ages.
If a large mosaic of Lake BG isn’t enough to peak your interest, there will also be a 46,965 brick-built model of a Kangaroo that took over 395 hours to build, a signature LEGO Pick A Brick Wall, brick engraving and an extensive (and awesome) range of LEGO.
LEGO Certified Stores are renowned across the globe as iconic retail experiences with landmark locations in New York, London, Hong Kong, Dubai and Denmark and with Canberra joining the fray, we wouldn’t be surprised if our little lake joins the big toys in the future
Aiming to inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow through creative free play, LEGO has delighted the citizens of Australia for over 60 years and as a certified store finally makes its home in the nation’s capital, excitement is definitely building for the brick-tastic shopping experience.
When: Saturday 6 November from 9am.
