Canberrans, it’s time to dust off those dancing shoes – DISCO CLUB is coming!

Tucked away in our everyday routines of school drop-offs, work deadlines, and endless to-do lists is that little voice whispering, “Remember when we used to dance until our feet hurt?”

Well, that little voice is about to get much louder as the phenomenon that is Lise & Sarah’s DISCO CLUB arrives at FICTION on 6 September.

The phenomenon that began in 2022 with 80 women in a Brisbane bowls club has grown into Australia’s largest event series for women. After drawing record crowds (including 2500 women at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall), they’re bringing the party to Canberra as part of their national tour.

If you’ve not yet heard of this joyful juggernaut sweeping across Australia, DISCO CLUB is the answer to that question we’ve all asked: “Why don’t we go dancing anymore?” Created by podcasters and best friends Lise Carlaw and Sarah Wills, this isn’t just another night out – it’s a revolution that has already brought unbridled joy to over 30,000 women nationwide.

It’s everything we miss about clubbing and nothing we don’t – the early 7pm start and 10 pm finish means you can still be in your PJs by 11 pm (absolute bliss).

The female DJ spins tunes from the 80s, 90s, and 00s – think Whitney, Britney, Celine, and Beyoncé – creating the perfect soundtrack for a judgment-free zone where you can belt out those lyrics you’ve secretly been practising in the shower.

Described as ‘dancefloor therapy’, women from their 20s through to their 60s love the chance to connect with friends, strangers, and perhaps most importantly, parts of themselves that get shelved during the daily grind of adulting.

So gather your girlfriends, dust off those dancing shoes, and prepare for a night where you can press pause on real life. Where you can remember what it feels like to move without inhibition, sing at the top of your lungs, and experience that rare joy of being completely in the moment.

Tickets go on sale at 1pm today, and if previous events are anything to go by, they’ll disappear faster than your resolve when “Total Eclipse of the Heart” comes on.
