Glebe Park transforms into a slice of Seoul tomorrow, and trust us when we say you’ll want to clear your calendar.
The Korean Association of Canberra is bringing back their beloved annual celebration – Korea Day – and this year’s lineup is particularly irresistible. From 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday 22 November, Canberrans can dive headfirst into Korean culture without leaving the city.

K-Pop dance crews will take the stage alongside traditional folk performances, while the precision of taekwondo demonstrations promises to leave spectators wide-eyed. Local Korean school students will also showcase cultural performances .
The raffle alone is worth showing up for. First prize? A return flight ticket to South Korea. Yes, an actual trip to the land of K-dramas, night markets, and temple stays. Second prize is a violin (perfect for aspiring musicians), and third is a car navigation system, with plenty more prizes up for grabs throughout the day.

The food scene alone is worth the trip to Glebe Park. Local Korean food stalls will be serving up authentic street eats – think crispy fried chicken, bulgogi, spicy rice cakes, and all those savoury, sweet, and umami-packed bites that make Korean cuisine so addictive.
New to Korea Day this year is the hanbok experience, where visitors can slip into the flowing, vibrant traditional Korean costume. The photos practically take themselves, and there’s something genuinely special about wearing a garment steeped in centuries of tradition. Traditional Korean games will be on offer too, giving everyone a chance to play like locals have for generations.

Korea Day serves as the perfect warm-up for December’s Hallyu! The Korean Wave exhibition at the National Museum of Australia, which opens on Friday 12 December. If Saturday’s festival sparks your curiosity about Korean pop culture, fashion, film, and music, you’ll have somewhere to continue that journey just a few weeks later.
Whether you’re a devoted K-Pop stan, a Korean food enthusiast, or simply curious about a culture that’s captured global imagination, this free community event delivers. Pack your picnic blanket, round up your crew, and prepare for an afternoon where Canberra’s heart beats to a Korean rhythm.
