Click, flash: Does your pet have the right stuff to appear in the 2022 Pets of Canberra Calendar?

Brush out those tails and practice your best puppy dog eyes, pets of Canberra—your moment has arrived.

That’s the question the Domestic Violence Crisis Service is asking right now: Does your pet have the personality to feature as one of their supermodels in their 2022 Pets of Canberra calendar?

“We are now into our fourth year of the Pets of Canberra Calendar and are very much looking forward to meeting all the wonderful pets from around Canberra,” says DVCS Chief Executive Officer, Sue Webeck.

“Last year we received more than 300 entries, which was our highest number yet. We are hoping to beat that this year. We’re looking forward to receiving entries from other animals, not just dogs and cats. We want to see horses, lizards and snakes, rabbits, cows, mice and rats, even fish!”

This year you can enter your pet for just $10 via the DVCS website. DVCS Ambassadors, Sue and children supported by DVCS will then tasked with selecting 12 winning pets.

Those pets receive their very own professional photo shoot, where a final photo will be selected and included in the calendar.

“Last year was the first year we sold off the spare squares in the calendar. This allowed us to include more than 50 more animals and raise a bit more money. Spare squares are the squares on the calendar that don’t have a date applied to it” says Alanna Davis, Community Development and Engagement Manager at DVCS.

“We have a brilliant and very generous team of volunteer professional photographers. They have been a part of this project since its inception, Mattalie Photography, Kate Bernardo Photography, LJ King Photography and Oak & Dust Photography. We extend our thanks to them for participating again this year. They are an amazing group of women and we are so fortunate for their commitment to this project” says Alanna.

The spare squares are available to purchase from $20 each. The photo included in the spare squares is submitted by you and must be of pets only, and can include more than one pet.

All the money raised by the entry fees, purchasing a spare square or purchasing a calendar will be used to support people impacted by domestic and family violence.

This includes paying for emergency accommodation, groceries, mobile phones and credit, support groups and other client supports as required.

The Domestic Violence Crisis Service is an inclusive service supporting children, young people and adults impacted by domestic and family violence within the ACT community.

DVCS provides 24/7 crisis intervention, safety planning, access to emergency accommodation, legal advocacy, support groups, case management to women, children and their families post-crisis and behavioural change for men who use violence and are seeking to change their beliefs and behaviours.
