Four ways to put a spring (sorry) in your step this weekend

Posted on

Another week, another bunch of restrictions eased for the ACT—so here’s how to spend your weekend.

As we inch towards another Friday (and inch further out of restrictions), the scope of Canberrans’ weekends is widening. This Friday 29 October, another raft of easings will see the return of cinemas, galleries and other cultural attractions, 30 people will be able to gather outdoors and capacity in hospitality venues will expand to one person per 1sqm.

So, with this in mind, here’s what we’ll be doing this weekend.

Toast to the season at Canberra’s newest bar

Want something new? Like, really new? How about a bar that will open its doors for the first time* at 4 pm this Friday?

Armada Bar returns to Barton (*technically it was open last summer too) this Friday to give Canberrans a truly waterside watering hole. Featuring bar snacks and small plates from The Boat House’s talented chef team and a delicious array of thirst-quenching beverages, from cocktails to local wines, this is THE place to be this summer. Trust us, we’re HerCanberra.

Decompress in the quiet of a gallery

There’s nothing quite like the hush of an art gallery. This weekend will see the (physically distanced) return of national institutions like the National Gallery of Australia and National Portrait Gallery, so why not take some space (and quiet) for yourself?

Our picks:

Catch a flick on the big screen. Like, in real life.

With cinemas opening this Friday, it’s time to make the tough decisions—like popcorn or a choc top?

If you’ve been hanging out for the chance to relax into a comfy chair in a dark room after too much Netflix on a laptop screen (haven’t we all?) now’s your chance.
