Five events you need to put in your calendar for this weekend
Posted on
Cheer up, there’s no need to get out of town to outrun the winter blues – Canberra has a few events happening this weekend that you should keep an eye out for.
With school starting up again (and no end to winter in sight), weekends should be committed to having a break from life’s stresses. So, we’ve constructed the list of five events happening this weekend that are family friendly and promise a good time.
Because it might be winter but that doesn’t mean that your weekends should be spent at home…although sitting under a blanket next to a blaring heater sounds perfect right now.
The Good Earth Psychic Fair
Want a look into the future? The Good Earth Psychic Fair is the longest running psychic fair in Canberra and for good reason. With tarot readers, psychics and mediums, free workshops and several stall holders selling jewellery, pendants, ritual objects and healing modalities, it’s a guaranteed enriching and engaging weekend. Plus it’s a great opportunity to ask for some guidance and advice from a number of professionals.
This year the fair also welcomes Lambo Art (Bobbi Oliver and Jane Lambert), long time stallholders from the central coast of NSW, and one of the most popular exhibitors, plus, Andre Yeo from Teapot Teas who present several hand mixed healing herbal teas (and beautiful jewellery).
Whether you are a believer or a skeptic, this fair is known to be a good time where you can find good vibes and even better people who are happy to help. In the organisers’ own words, they promise a ‘wonderful weekend’.

No More: A National Rally Against Violence
The No More National Rally is a call to action to end gendered sexual, domestic and family abuse. Amid a growing epidemic of male violence against women, the Australian community including activists and organisations are uniting for a nationwide protest.
Their ask is simple: ‘no more’. No more violence against women and no more turning a blind eye to these crimes.
In 2024, 53 women lost their lives at the hands of gendered violence, two in five women have experienced gendered violence since the age of 15 and 53 percent women will experience sexual harassment in their life, with an estimated of 97 percent of these cases going unreported for a multitude of reasons. These numbers should make you uncomfortable and should encourage you to say enough is enough. It’s important that we recognise that every single one of these women was someone’s daughter, mother, sister, friend but more importantly her own person with dreams and aspirations and a life that was cut too short.
Our current laws are failing to protect women and victims and leaving shattered families at their wake.
As Sarah William, founder and CEO of What Were You Wearing and the No More Rally, says “Enough is enough. And it has been enough for a long time. We need more action from politicians, and we need them to take these crimes more seriously”.

Winter Market at Dairy Road
We’ve always been a glass half full kind of people here at HerCanberra and we think the people at the Winter Market can agree with us – because although the winter blues might be hitting us, we are choosing to celebrate the beauty of the colder months and all that they bring (mostly the truffles and wine).
The Winter Market wants to celebrate the seasonal produce and explore the best of the cold climate. This includes stalls of fine foods such as truffles, garlic and olives, delicious wines, and entertainment for all ages. This is the perfect weekend activity for the family where everyone can find something to obsess over. Plus, you’ll be supporting local!
