Grab your gang! Five fun group activities to try in Canberra

Planning a catch-up with friends but don’t know where to start? Here are five suggestions for group activities that everyone will love.

Trying to organise a catch-up with a group of friends can feel like a mission; from aligning your calendars with a day and time that doesn’t clash to choosing an activity that everyone will enjoy.

While we can’t help with calendars (sorry about that), we have found five fun activities to suggest to the group chat. From playing PIXEL – the TikTok viral floor game – to getting messy at a splatter paint studio, read on!

Play PIXEL at Kingpin

Looking for something fun and high energy (with a little bit of friendly competition)? A visit to Kingpin is what you need. And with the recent introduction of PIXEL – the viral floor tile game that’s taken over our FYPs – you have the perfect excuse to book a night out.

Have no idea what we’re talking about? Imagine a glowing disco-style floor made up of multi-coloured tiles where your mission is to run, jump, and dodge your way across the grid with your crew, avoiding the dreaded red tiles and racing to hit the blue ones before time runs out. Lasting four minutes in total and with a capacity of six plays, it’s part arcade, part fitness and totally addictive.

Make sure to make some time to play the new King’s Claw machine as well (which is packed full of exclusive prizes) and to pay a visit to the bar – because after all that running, you’ll be sure to need a drink.

Try your hand at pickleball at Canberra Racquet Club

A combination of tennis, badminton and ping pong, pickleball has taken the world by storm. Known for its simplicity and accessibility for all ages and skill levels (so even your most uncoordinated friend can play), you can book your squad a court at the Canberra Racquet Club in Fyshwick to try it for yourselves. And with state-of-the-art facilities and all equipment available for hire, all you need to do is don your best tennis-inspired outfit and have some fun.

Sail Lake Burley Griffin on a Love Boat

With summer on the way, a few hours spent sailing on Lake Burley Griffin with your crew sounds like the perfect way to spend your day. With a built-in fridge for drinks and nibbles and a premium sound system, on a Love Boat you can cruise in style and comfort with nine of your closest friends. The only problem? Once you’ve picnicked on Lake Burley Griffin, you won’t be able to go back to the park…

Get messy at Splash Lab

Did you know that Canberra has a premier splatter paint studio? Splash Lab offers a one-of-a-kind creative experience that everyone will love. Ideal for a good time with friends, choose from either the classic Splash Lab or Glow Lab experience and flick, drip, and splash your way to your next masterpiece. No artistic skills are needed – just a willingness to get a little messy!
