The Carillon is hosting a Star Wars concert on May 4th

May the 4th be With You!

Whether you’re an original trilogy die hard, a Kylo Ren convert or just love every single one of the films without exception (…just me?) we can all agree that May 4 holds a special place in the hearts of Star Wars fans.

But this Star Wars Day, there’s even more to look forward to than confusing your millennial barista by telling them “help me Obi-Wan caffeine-nobi, you’re my only hope” or slinging Star Wars pick up lines with wild abandon (“I’ve been looking for love in Alderaan places”).

Because this Friday 4 May, the National Carillon is putting on a Star Wars concert. Yes, a Star Wars concert.

From The Force Awakens to The Empire Strikes Back, the National Carillonists will cover a myriad of theme songs to set your sci-fi spirits in a spin on Aspen Island.

Reminisce to the original tunes of the Imperial March (Darth Vader’s Theme) and Princess Leia’s Theme arranged by A. Bowler and played by Lyn Fuller and fall in love with newer additions to the Star Wars canon like Across the Stars, Finn’s Confession and Rey’s Theme.

Why not make a lunch date out of it and bring a picnic blanket and some deli goodies? The concert is free and will be able to be heard from most lakeside locations near the Carillon, so there will be plenty of space for everyone.

The concert will kick off at 12.30 and play continuously until 1.30 pm and to all the Canberra Star Wars fans out there…
