Birdsnest Canberra Pop-up
The birds are back in town! Cooma’s most famous fashion brand is making a temporary nest in Narrabundah for another Canberra pop-up.
Bringing a curated selection of brand spanking new spring/summer styles from their in-house labels, the pop-up store will be open to the public for walk-ins each day (no cost or tickets required). It’s a chance for Canberra birds to experience the much-loved Birdsnest shopping experience without taking the hour’s drive south to Cooma!

Ausdance ACT 2024 Youth Dance Festival
Celebrating its 40th Anniversary with a theme of ‘What do You Dream?’, the Ausdance ACT Youth Dance Festival is back!
Featuring an exciting mix of live dance performances made by secondary schools from all over the Canberra region for three nights at the Canberra Theatre, go support the hard work and dedication of Canberra region students and witness their co-creative ability.

Come Alive Festival of Museum Theatre
The Come Alive Festival involves students from secondary schools in the ACT visiting the National Library or the National Portrait Gallery; selecting a character, object or event; and devising their own performance piece in response to the items in the national collection. Conceived by drama teacher Peter Wilkins, the festival, now in its 15th year, picks up on the rich resources in our national collections.

Art Live: Ever Present
This is a free festival-style event for young audiences aged 15 to 25
Developed in collaboration with the National Gallery Youth Council, Art Live: Ever Present brings together immersive experiences, artist-led workshops, performances and live music inspired by the exhibition Ever Present: First Peoples Art of Australia. Choose different activities throughout the evening and enjoy a night filled with creativity, culture, and connection!

Club Cohen – Nightclub of the Afterlife
For one night only, The Vault is transforming into a nightclub of the afterlife.
The moody late-night groove songs of Leonard Cohen will be given new life with a spectral live band fronted by the mellifluous Mikelangelo. Go sway, swoon and sing along with a stellar line-up of special guests gracing the stage throughout the evening, including local legends Shortis & Simpson, Fred Smith, Alice Cottee, Tom Woodward and Tracy Bourne and more.

La Fiesta
This is Canberra’s Latin American festival! Bringing the City Centre to life with the art, sounds, and flavours of Latin America, there’s plenty happening.

This is an event the whole family will enjoy.

Santa’s arrival at Westfield Woden
We hope you’ve been good because Santa Claus is coming to town this Saturday!
The jolly man in red has called in some special helpers to make this year’s parade the most magical yet. Bring the festivities this Christmas! Take your place along the parade route and get ready for our merry friends to spread the Christmas cheer.

2024 Craft + Design Canberra Festival
It’s the 10th year of the Craft + Design Canberra Festival, and there’s plenty to see and do. This is Bangarra’s first dedicated work for children!

ACT Hub is excited to partner with East & Under Theatre Company to present A Balloon Will Pop at Some Point During This Play, a play that is part stand-up, part monologue, all existential crisis.
Elijah has been doing some reading, and has some stuff to get off their chest. There’s only one problem. Well there’s a lot of problems, but this specific problem looks like a balloon, and Elijah has no idea where it came from, or what it means.
A Balloon Will Pop at Some Point During This Play is one person’s quest to understand why our problems feel so huge, especially when science tells us we’re missing 95% of the Universe… Oh wait… that might have something to do with it.
There are protests, conspiracy theories, black holes, time witches and very big conversations on the side of a bridge. It’s an existential one-man dark comedy show about a lot.

Megalo Wayzgoose
Megalo Print Studio’s Megalo Wayzgoose exhibition will bring together over 100 artworks by more than 50 contemporary printmakers from across ACT, NSW, SA, Victoria and Tasmania.
If you’ve never heard of a wayzgoose before, it’s an annual printmakers’ tradition dating back to the mid-1700s when a printing house would have an event to celebrate the printers’ work. This exhibition features artists from across Australia who are working with print in its multiplicitous forms:

Island Hopping: A Solo Show by Jeffrey Sarmiento
Known for his creative practice exploring cultural identity and the graphic image in glass, Jeffrey Sarmiento embeds layers of information in his intricately constructed objects, sculptures and public commissions.
An expert in kiln formed and digital fabricated glass, he uses cutting and pasting of printed glass lenticular imagery and within the transparent medium, allowing imagery to swim within the pieces. Head along to the Canberra Glassworks to see his work, which helps him to expose complex narratives and create new ways of seeing.

Mythica Ignota: Solo Exhibition by Elliat Rich
Showcasing new work developed during Elliat Rich’s residency at Canberra Glassworks throughout 2024, Mythica Ignota uses mythology as a framework to nest scientific observation and more-than-human orientated values with artefact and narrative.
Curated by Aimee Frodsham, in this exhibition Alice Springs designer Elliat Rich taps into ancient and future ways of seeing the world.

Pattern Recognition
Pattern Recognition celebrates female and non-binary artists from the ACT region who use abstraction and design principles to explore colour perception and spatial relationships, highlighting the ways artists approach colour, geometry, and form.
While the artists in the exhibition explore similar visual terrain, embracing non-objective abstraction, repetition and pattern, their underlying conceptual investigations and influences vary and include post-colonial and feminist frameworks, climate activism, architecture, memory, extended pictorial space, mindfulness, and sensory engagement with the materials. The exhibition investigates regeneration, exploring the influence of traditional craft disciplines on contemporary art practice.

Hiroe and Cornel Swen: Making a Creative Life
This is a groundbreaking exhibition celebrating the lifelong creative partnership of two of Canberra’s most admired artists: Hiroe and Cornel Swen, charting their course from Kyoto to Canberra.
Running until 16 March 2025, this exhibition marks the first time both artists’ works are showcased together, offering profound insights into their individual journeys and shared contributions to Canberra’s cultural landscape. You’ll have the chance to view a selection of Hiroe and Cornel’s works, including archival images and previously unexhibited pieces. It’s a unique glimpse into their creative connection!

The Bloody Long Walk
This is a 35km challenge from Red Hill to Reconciliation Park, raising money to find cures for mitochondrial disease (mito).
Mito is a debilitating and potentially fatal genetic disorder that impairs the body’s ability to convert food into the energy needed to power muscles and major organs. One Australian child born each week suffers a severe or life-threatening form of mito making it the second most commonly diagnosed serious genetic disease after cystic fibrosis. Walk, jog or run and enjoy spectacular scenery whilst raising vital funds.

Poetry of Spring – Long Forest Walk
Experience the forests of the Arboretum through poetry and a leisurely walk.
