Remember that feeling when you first heard the Star Wars theme? Or when the Harry Potter theme gave you chills? You can relive the magic all over again as John Williams’ most iconic film scores take centre stage in Canberra.
As one of cinema’s most iconic composers, no one has shaped the sound of the movies like John Williams. From Star Wars to Jurassic Park, Harry Potter to E.T, and Indiana Jones to Superman, he has composed some of the most popular, recognisable and critically acclaimed film scores in history – and now you can take a guided tour through his career and creative brilliance with Art Of The Score: The Music of John Williams.
Transforming the ANU School of Music to transport you to galaxies far, far away, to the magic of Hogwarts and the thrill (and fear) of being chased by a T-Rex, for two nights, you can celebrate some of his most cherished film scores.
With podcasters Andrew Pogson, Dan Golding and conductor Jessica Gethin guiding you through the Academy Award-winning music of John Williams, this part movie music concert, part behind-the-scenes tour, will help you relive every one of those spine-tingling moments, all while demonstrating various aspects of his iconic compositional style.
Perfect for movie-goers and music lovers alike, dust off those childhood memories, experience the soundtracks that defined generations of cinema in a whole new way, and let John Williams’ masterpieces sweep you away once more.
Ideal for people aged eight and above, whether you’re introducing the kids to these timeless scores or reliving your movie memories, this is an experience not to be missed. And after two hours, we can guarantee that you’ll believe in the Force, magic, and the extraordinary – all over again.
