Three reasons your zero to six-year-old will love Questacon’s Little Explorers Day

Posted on

Looking for a fun activity for a little scientist in your life? Questacon’s Little Explorers Day is back for another fun-filled year.

Inviting little ones aged between zero and six years (and their grown-ups) to enjoy a unique experience at Questacon across four days in February, the event is designed to ignite curiosity in young minds through hands-on learning and play.

And the best part is it can all be enjoyed without big kids and school groups around.

Taking place on Tuesday 11, Wednesday 12, Thursday 13 and Friday 14 February from 9 am until 1 pm, Questacon will be hosting a range of activities for young children to introduce them to the fun of science, technology, and innovation in a safe and inclusive space.

And from baby sensory spaces to the ‘Butterfly Adventure, your little scientists will enjoy a range of activities – including the iconic Questacon science shows, story time, interactive demonstrations, dress ups and more.

With the cost of tickets included with a general entry admission ticket or Questacon membership, why not make a whole day of it?

Here are three events your zero to six-year-old will love during Questacon’s Little Explorers Day – and why you should book tickets now.

Exploring Oceans Puppet Show

Designed for three- to six-year-olds (and their caregivers), this interactive puppet show is the perfect mix of educational and entertaining.

Following Shelly, the baby sea turtle (who has just hatched from their egg and is nervous to go into the big blue ocean), you’ll join them on an adventure to discover where different marine animals live and how they behave.

Meeting many different animals along the way – including a parrot fish, a blacktip reef shark, an angler fish, and a huge humpback whale – you’ll help Shelly learn all about the ocean and the amazing animals that live there. Who knows, it might just inspire a future marine biologist in your family…

Butterfly Adventure

With the opportunity to dress up and role-play the lifecycle of a butterfly, what two- to six-year-old wouldn’t love this activity?

Full of imagination, in the interactive Butterfly Adventure, your children will role-play being caterpillars exploring the garden and finding food. Then (after going through the process of metamorphosis), they’ll transform inside a chrysalis to emerge as beautiful butterflies.

Magical and informative, sit back and watch as they explore and play while learning about an important natural process. Win/win!

Science Time

As one of the most popular programs for young visitors, the Science Time facilitated learning sessions are not to be missed.

Head along for a taster where budding scientists aged three to five and their caregivers can investigate and make discoveries together. Building the confidence of kids and their grown-ups to discover and share science together, not only will it encourage your little one’s curiosity, but it will also allow you to engage with your children and experience behaviours and practices that can help them do more science at home!

And that’s just the highlights. Make sure to pre-purchase your tickets so your mini scientists can explore, play and discover.
