In the past few years, we’ve seen vibrant precincts spring up in New Acton and Braddon.
Now, as a first step in the City to the Lake project, Westside @ Acton Park is set to add more interest to the city fringe.
The ‘pop-up’ village will be built at West Basin on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin, primarily out of shipping containers.
According to the Land Development Agency website, “Westside will change the way Canberrans engage with public spaces. It will be a dynamic precinct, providing even more reasons for Canberrans to come together – for retail, dining and entertainment. There are also plans for an exciting calendar of sporting and cultural events.”
Stomping Grounds is delivering Westside @ Acton Park on behalf of the ACT Government. Following Works Approval by the National Capital Authority, construction will start, with delivery of Stage One expected in time for this year’s Floriade.
Stage One will be a vertical village offering retail, dining and events. There will also be a viewing platform to take in some of the best views in the city.
Are you excited? Indifferent? Opposed? What would YOU like to see at Westside?
