You won’t want to miss this ‘out of this world’ family-friendly experience in Canberra

Posted on

Imagine this: you’re sipping on a Marsgarita while the kids dance in the cosmos, enjoying what might just be Canberra’s most ‘out of this world’ family-friendly experience.

Just in time for the school holidays, SPACE TIME is back at The Vault at Dairy Road to take locals to the edge of the universe and back again. Originally popping up in July, SPACE TIME is an immersive audiovisual experience where you can see new photos from the James Webb, Euclid, and other ‘mind-bending’ space telescopes in high resolution, taking aspiring astronauts on a forgettable journey.

From seeing rocket launches, black holes, and nebulae, and exploring galaxies, time and space will be bent – and yes, you might just meet another life form.

Running from Friday 27 September until Sunday 13 October, the breathtaking experience includes two cinematic sessions: Bright Stars for space cadets under eight years old, and young families and Darker Matter for those seeking a deeper immersion in space and interested in the intersections of science and philosophy.

But that’s just the edge of this galaxy. Because, with the new additions of a delicious candy bar for the kids, cocktails for the adults, out-of-this-world space shop and space concerts every Friday night, there are plenty of reasons everyone in the family will gravitate toward SPACE TIME.

Designed for all ages (and budgets, with the choice of a pay-what-you-want-ticket), every Friday night, the bunker will be transformed into a space bar to host an intimate, live space concert, seeing the stunning photos intertwine with the music – so you can literally dance in the cosmos.

For those seeking a more educational experience during these school holidays, families also can’t miss the chance to go on a mind-expanding journey through astrophysics with talks by experts from the Mount Stromlo Observatory, every Saturday at 1 pm.

But for adults looking for a little time away from their mini-mes (or who love the idea of dancing amongst the stars) on Saturday 28 September, The Vault is hosting an unmissable sci-fi party, Drum & Space – which promises an immersive night of theatre, dance and – of course – drinks.

For 18+ only, during the event, otherworldly beings will wander amongst you to offer Cosmicpolitans, Marsgaritas, and Saturn’s Nipple cocktails as you’re guided through the night. Adding to the extraterrestrial vibes, it’s worth knowing you have to dress to impress as an astronaut, alien, or robot as epic DJs fuel your interstellar journey and launch you into a good time.

With plenty happening across the two weeks for all ages, discovering the edges of space has never been so easy (or fun).

Ideal for explorers, philosophers, and those who just think space is really, really cool, with 160+ session times to choose from (as well as some super cool space mementos to take home), book your tickets to SPACE TIME and get ready to blast off in three, two, one…
