Rosé, croquet, and loads more (yay!)

Posted on

Please forgive the terrible poetry in the headline, but we’re excited. Because there’s more happening at Pialligo Estate this spring than you can poke a croquet mallet at!

Pialligo Estate has already announced a bevvy of new offerings this year, but it seems they were only the tip of the iceberg.

In addition to family-friendly The Possum Patch with birthday parties and school holiday programs and the new summer bar Pialligo Fields, there’s a lot more to come—including a brand new restaurant space!

If you can’t seem to keep up, we’ve broken it down for you. Just don’t blame us if you’re changing your weekend plans after you finish reading!

THE MARKET GRILL

You heard it here first, folks. The Estate is getting a new restaurant space, and it’s not what you might expect. Opening soon, The Market Grill will be a totally new offering for the Estate—and for Canberra.

Embodying the paddock-to-plate philosophy of the Estate, General Manager Scott Taylor says the Market Grill will be a small 48-person restaurant serving a ‘fishing village’ style menu—the freshest catches of the day alongside Pialligo Estate’s signature dry aged meats and smokehouse goods.

“We’re working with three different [South Coast] fishing boats, so we get emails at 3 am telling us what they’ve caught overnight,” explains Scott. “That then gets delivered to our door between 10 and 11 am and it’s on diners’ plates at midday. And we’re just as serious about our beef dry-aging rooms as we are about our fish program—it’s such a wonderful opportunity to be able to source the finest produce Australia’s got to offer.”

Fresh seafood and a selection of other premium proteins will be served with a selection of vegetables and produce from the Estate’s expansive market gardens, making a menu perfect for summer dining. Even the Market Grill itself has been structured to hero the produce first and foremost, with a moody interior and an open kitchen with a special flame grill.

“More than 75% of the fruit and vegetables we use are grown on the Estate. We now have five team members who are planting and harvesting 12 acres of market garden on the Estate. So when we say it’s a seasonal menu, it truly is,” says Scott.

“It’s nice that we don’t actually get the opportunity to do things too cleverly. We keep things simple, let the produce shine through and cook things meticulously but simply—that’s what Market Grill is all about.”

But diners might be most excited about The Market Grill’s exclusive Chef’s Table, which will offer private dining for up to eight people at a table within the kitchen.

An intimate experience perfect for foodies, diners can heighten the experience by ordering the Chef’s Menu, which Scott describes as “10 morsels served by the chef themselves”.

We’ll have more on The Market Grill soon…we’ll let you know when you can book!

NEXT LEVEL EVENT OFFERINGS IN TIME FOR SUMMER

Pialligo Estate has long been known as a destination for weddings and special events, however, their newest offerings will take this reputation to the next level offering something for every group, big or small.

Just in time for summer get-togethers, Christmas and end of year functions, Pialligo Estate now also offers Outstanding in the Field. This means you can create your own Insta-worthy, fully-catered event in Pialligo’s expansive paddocks, vineyard or lush orchard.

And along with the new Spring menu about to drop, food won’t be the only things getting guests talking, with the Estate’s menu of entertainment add-ons like ‘croquet and rosé’, ‘gin and golf’, ‘high cheese’, lawn games, Insider Guides with our experts, a ‘craft beer adventure’, your own Gintonica bar and more.

If you’re more of an indoors person, you can also arrange many of these elements for the Estate’s indoor event spaces too, such as the Pavilions, Market Grill, the Glasshouse, Pialligo Fields and their private dining rooms.

Whether you’re planning an intimate birthday gathering, dinner for two or in charge of the office’s Christmas party, this ‘choose your own adventure’ style line-up will make planning a breeze. Pialligo Estate is where Canberra will come to play!

PIALLIGO FIELDS

The hills aren’t the only thing alive (with music and more) this spring.

A fresh new bar space that will make you forget you didn’t get to Italy this summer, Pialligo Fields is the perfect spot for Friday after work drinks or casual events.

With music, lawn games and plenty of space, the Fields is open Fridays from 3 pm and Sundays from 12 pm until late serving delicious cocktails, bar nibbles and serious European vibes. As Scott puts it, it’s the perfect spot to watch the sun go down over Parliament House.

And did someone say Gintonica bar?!?!
