Beach Burrito brings the fiesta back to City Walk

Canberra’s favourite cantina—Beach Burrito—is set to reopen on Friday 5 April with a fresh look and menu.
Getting your taco fix is about to become a whole lot more colourful, because Beach Burrito is back, baby. Canberra’s favourite cantina is set to reopen on Friday 5 April with a fresh look and menu, inspired by the team’s recent trip to Mexico.
Oh, and did we mention there are brand-new vegan options? ¡Arriba, arriba! ¡Ándale, ándale!
The highlight of the new menu is the addition of a vegan jackfruit taco and burrito. What the heck is jackfruit, you ask? Well, it’s a tropical fruit that, when unripe, absorbs lots of flavour and can be cooked to have a stringy, meat-like texture. In other words, it’s the vegan version of pulled pork and ideal for stuffing into tacos.
As HerCanberra’s recent Mexico City transplant, Beach Burrito holds a special place in my heart because is the only place in town that combines authentic Mexican food with the best cheese in the world (halloumi, duh.) In fact, Taco Tuesday is my personal religious holiday and Beach Burrito is my favourite place in Canberra to celebrate.
With celebration in mind, the Beach Burrito team have also put together an extended happy hour deal. After the reopening, you’ll be able to grab a Tecate beer, tap beer or sangria for only $5 from 4-6.30pm Monday to Friday. Combining Australian and Mexican coastal vibes, the new Beach Burrito will make you feel like you’re on vacay all year round. (The delicious piña colada doesn’t hurt either.)
As always, Canberra’s updated Beach Burrito will retain its unique personality. That’s because each of the 10 Beach Burrito restaurants around Australia is designed independently with its own personality and customised to fit the local environment. Like Mexico itself, Beach Burrito Canberra aims to create a laid-back, friendly and fun atmosphere where the limes are fresh and the tequila is always flowing.
If all this talk of tacos is making you hungry, head on down to Beach Burrito’s reopening party on Friday 5 April from 7pm for One Night in Mexico. The fiesta will kick off with Raio de Sol samba band, followed by a DJ spinning Latin party tunes. To get you in the mood, frozen margaritas will be $10 and, in true Mexican style, guacamole will be free. We’ll see you there!
