The weather might be cooling down in Canberra, but things are heating up in our hospitality scene with new eats, events and exciting things to do. From the viral ButterBoy Cookies landing in Canberra to the countdown to the opening of juicy, Texan-style barbecue in Narrabundah, here’s everything you need to know.

Terra suddenly closes its doors

On Friday, one of Canberra’s best restaurants announced it was shutting its doors with less than 48 hours’ notice.

On Instagram, Terra wrote, ‘Tomorrow night will be our last service here in what has been our home for the last 7 years at 40 Marcus Clarke. Sorry for the short notice!’

Time will tell whether this is a closure or a relocation but we’re crossing everything it’s the latter!

This Burgundy Wine Dinner will transport your tastebuds

Dreaming of a Euro Summer but can’t afford a plane ticket? For one night only, Les Bistronomes is transporting locals to Burgundy and back again. Partnering with Mosaique Wines on Wednesday 28 May, the wine dinner will shine a light on the hidden gems of the region – which is known for its Burgundy wines as well as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Chablis and Beaujolais. Who can say no to an exclusive four-course dinner that includes prawn and scallop mousse croque-monsieur and roast duck breast with confit duck leg raviole, pine mushroom, and duck jus?

Need a sweet treat with your coffee? ONA and the Cupping Room are stocking ButterBoy Cookies

They’ve spilled the (cookie) crumbs, ONA and the Cupping Room are now stocking ButterBoy Cookies. Taking New South Wales by storm, these cookies are baked fresh and served hot, with flavours ranging from Mango and Lime to PB Swirl. You’ll have to hustle to get your hands on one of these with your morning coffee, because we expect them to fly out the door.

The countdown to Big Box Barbeque is on

The kitchen is loaded, the fit-out is nearly done and we’re counting down the days until Big Box Barbeque is ready to bring us juicy, Texan-style barbecue. And yes, we’re drooling just thinking about it. Here’s what you can expect – keep an eye out for the opening date!

The NFSA Acton café is getting a makeover!

But don’t worry – it’s not going anywhere. The same great team will be there, serving the coffee you love, just with a tastier menu and a fresh new look. But while the café is under construction, we have some delicious news: Melted Toasted Sandwich Emporium will run a pop-up out front of McCoy Circuit, serving coffee, toasties and cold drinks, from 8:30 am until 3 pm Monday to Friday and 10 am until 2 pm Saturday, Sunday and public holidays. Plus, there will also be a pop-up bar will also operate in the Mediatheque room for evening screenings and after-hours events!

Experience an authentic taste of Pakistan in Dickson

Promising a night of fine wine and exceptional food, fine dining darling Louis has partnered with the award-winning Shaw + Smith for one night only on Wednesday 4 June. Serving four courses of European-inspired cuisine paired with premium wines from the stunning Adelaide Hills, sip, savour and unwind as you’re guided through a curated tasting experience showcasing the best of Adelaide’s winemaking talent. Make sure to book your spot!

A five-course Hunter’s Feast at Grazing? We’ll be there

If you haven’t been to Grazing in Gundaroo to experience their refined country dining, this is the perfect opportunity. On Saturday 28 June, the award-winning restaurant is hosting a “bold, rustic and seasonal celebration of food” inspired by the Hunter’s Feast tradition, matched with fine wine. Including canapes, across the five courses you’ll indulge in wild rabbit rillettes, ash rolled rare roasted kangaroo loin, house-smoked wild boar and more. At $155 per person (and optional matched wines available for $55 per person), bookings are essential.

You can now find a fresh Korean eatery on Anketell Street

Southsiders, this one is for you – a new Korean eatery has opened in Tuggeranong so there’s no need to head into the city to cure your cravings. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 11 am until late, Suyu Gisa Sikdang is all about flavoursome home-style cooking – perfect for when you need a winter warmer.

Take a culinary journey to the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna

Get ready to taste the authentic flavours of the region during this exceptional five-course lunch at Restaurant Two14 on Saturday 31 May. Curated by Head Chef Federico Pitasi, each dish will showcase authentic ingredients from the Italian region. Enhance your meal with their optional Italian wine pairings (expertly selected from some of Italy’s most prestigious wines) and enjoy the flavours of Italy without leaving the country.

Tuggeranong has scored a new bistro

Looking for a casual place for lunch or to catch up over a drink and dinner in Tuggeranong? Tap and Toss is the newest addition to Reed Street. Serving up a menu of bistro/pub-style feeds, you’ll find everything from steak to schnitzels, parmis to pizza, and more. Order yourself a beer on tap or a cocktail and enjoy the relaxed dining experience.

Café De Sareen hints at something new

Bringing a cosy café to the Narrabundah shops in 2024, it looks like Café De Sareen is undergoing a re-brand – it’s time to meet Illuka. With more information to come, from what we’ve seen, along with breakfast and lunch they’ll also be serving dinner. Keep an eye out!

Uni Corner Café opens in Phillip

Brunch seekers in Phillip don’t have to go far with the opening of Uni Corner Café on Bowes Street. Serving classics like Eggs Benedict and – of course – coffee, you can dine in or takeaway.

Cypher Brewing Co. wins 13 medals at one of the world’s largest beer competitions

One of the world’s biggest beer competitions just gave a nod to Canberra’s north. Local independent brewery Cypher Brewing Co. has cleaned up at the 2025 Australian International Beer Awards, picking up 13 medals across a mix of beer styles and label designs. Including three gold medals, four silver medals, and six bronze medals, we’ll raise a glass to that.

Get ready to fiesta, because Tex Mex Wednesdays are landing at Paloma’s in June

That’s right, Paloma’s is turning up the midweek vibes with Flaming Fajitas, Build-Your-Own Taco Platters, $15 Paloma jugs and flaming cocktails and more! Launching on Wednesday 11 June, they had us at liquid cheese.
