Five Canberra bars you may not have discovered yet

Posted on

Ready to shake up your evenings? Here are five Canberra bars you may not have discovered yet (but are definitely worth a visit!).

Squeaky Clean Bar (City)

If you like bars that are pretty with a touch of gritty, then head on over to Verity Laneway, where Squeaky Clean is waiting. And with seasonal cocktails that slap and a fun selection of snacks (think: pork neck nachos, black pudding burgers and double choc ice cream sandos), it sounds like the perfect location for a casual catchup over drinks.

Paloma’s (Braddon)

Right next door to Hopscotch – and with the same owner, Nick Parkinson – Paloma’s is described as three parts bar, one part restaurant (inspired by its namesake cocktail – three parts grapefruit, one part tequila). It’s Mexican-inspired, serving up an impressive line-up of Mezcal, Tequila, cocktails, local wines and a Paloma’s collab Mexican Lager with Capital Brewing Co. Relaxed and shareable Latin-style bites – tacos and moreish bowls of chips and guac – will no doubt go down a treat.

OHNO! (Manuka)

If you’re looking for a relaxed atmosphere, you can’t go past the upstairs area at OHNO! With a cosy cocktail bar where you can drink and snack while listening to house DJs, with beautiful large windows that can be opened when the heat hits, nibbling on share plates and tasting your way through an extensive wine while enjoying a cool breeze is the ultimate way to spend summer.

Louis Terrace (Barton)

Now open in Barton’s fine dining darling Louis, the outdoor Terrace is a beautiful location that’s suitable for all occasions. Fully enclosed and set amongst the lush greenery of the area, it promises an elevated dining experience that pairs perfectly with their sun-kissed menu—from marinated green olives and toasted almonds to a pear and almond tart served with cinnamon ice cream. Soak in a balmy evening with a glass of Eden Road Riesling and enjoy the ambience.

Luna (City)

Opening in 2023, this isn’t your average drink and dining destination. Featuring refreshingly creative cocktails, a menu of elevated street food and music that will take you right into the early hours of the morning, Luna promises to deliver a unique experience for anyone hitting the town.
