What is Canberra’s best restaurant?

Well according to the Sydney Morning Herald 2017 Good Food Guide Awards, Griffith stalwart Aubergine continues to lead the pack; the only Canberra restaurant to be awarded two hats. Ben Willis’ city venture, Temporada, also impressed with one hat.

Courgette, Ottoman Cuisine and Waters Edge are well-acquainted with the one hat, while the Chairman Group has two jewels in its crown with both Lilotang and Lanterne Rooms gaining gongs. Pialligo Estate’s Farmhouse Restaurantmonster Kitchen & Bar and eightysix continue to shine.

However, with a list that hasn’t changed since last year’s awards, we have to ask — are there other Canberra restaurants that should have made the grade?

Last month, Australian Gourmet Traveller revealed their Canberra top ten: monster kitchen + bar, Aubergine, Pialligo Estate’s Farmhouse Restaurant, Temporada, eightysix, XO, Italian & Sons, Courgette, Ottoman Cuisine and Sage Dining Rooms.

So, did either of these acclaimed publications get it right? What would you add or change? See the list of hatted restaurants from last night’s SMH Awards below.
