Feeling crumby? Here’s our pick of Canberra bakeries to try this summer

Posted on

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a Canberran in possession of spare change must be in want of a quality fresh pastry.

As lovers of bread in all its forms here at HerCanberra, we’ve collated a list of our favourite bakeries across the nation’s capital for you to recommend to all the stud muffins in your life. It’s the yeast we could do.

Crust us, they’ll fulfil all your buttery expectations.

Clementine (Yass and Murrumbateman)

A small artisan bakery in the heart of Yass and Murrumbateman, Clementine are experts in quality baked goods, like croissants, pastries, and sourdough. Everything is made in small batches by hand, with local produce and freshly sourced ingredients. Their storefronts in Yass and Murrumbateman are always well stocked, but if you can’t make the trek, head to a Two Before Ten cafe to sample some of their creations.

The tried and tested Swedish buns from Under Bakery are a crowd pleaser on the southside. Think Cardamom buns, made with plenty of butter and caramelised brown sugar…are you drooling yet?

If savoury is more your thing, try one of their freshly baked focaccia.

They’re known for their unique and rather large sourdough Easter Buns, and were voted Best Easter Buns in Canberra in 2021. We’ve got our eye on their artisan pumpkin and sourdough loaf!
